HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Certainly eyes are on schools as they begin classes again in Reno County. Many have readjusted COVID policies to mirror that of the recent changes offered up by the CDC.

Hutchinson USD 308 is the last district in the county to resume classes, which is today. Students and staff have been away from buildings since Dec. 20. At the last report from the district on its own personal dashboard Dec. 17, there were a total of 355 COVID cases, which represented about 7% of the total population of students and staff. It involved 50 instructors, 151 students in grades 7-12 and 154 students under 7th grade.

The start of school again comes as the county saw the largest single-day increase in COVID cases since the pandemic started. The next dashboard update is Friday.

The district implemented a series of protocols for the school year in August and, as of now, no changes have been made.

The list of COVID protocols is available on the district website at usd308.com.
