The Reno County Department of Aging will host a Community Collaboration Series event next week highlighting the benefits of pet therapy.

The program is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 12 at 120 W. Ave. B in Hutchinson.

The presentation, titled “The Benefits of Pet Therapy,” will feature guest speaker Tara Willard of the VitalCaring Group, who serves as a care transition coordinator. Willard will be joined by Baxter, a therapy dog who helps demonstrate how animal-assisted interactions can support emotional and physical well-being.

Organizers say pet therapy has been shown to help reduce stress, improve mood, and provide comfort to individuals in a variety of settings, including healthcare facilities, senior living communities and rehabilitation programs.

The event is part of Reno County’s ongoing Community Collaboration Series, which brings together local organizations, professionals and residents to share information and strengthen community connections.

The program is coordinated by Cara Conaway, information and outreach program coordinator for the Reno County Department of Aging.
