
Sharon Lynn Fulks died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at her home in Gardner, KS from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She fought valiantly for three years.
Sharon graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1966. She graduated from Hutchinson Junior College and attended the University of Connecticut for one year before graduating from Kansas State Teacher's College in Emporia in 1970. She taught elementary school in St. Louis for three years and then joined the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, teaching in Okinawa, Germany, and Sicily for 32 years. She retired in 2005 and moved to Gardner, KS.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, KS and Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, KS.
Sharon belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma and Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild. She helped raise great niece and nephew Riley and Colin Roberts. She volunteered at Olathe Public Schools to continue working directly with children. She was an avid reader, participating in a local book club, and listened to audiobooks as she drove. Sharon was an election worker for the Johnson County Board of Elections and she served proudly.
Sharon was a world traveler. Her job with DoDDS allowed her to visit many countries.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Dorothy Fulks. She is survived by three sisters, Ellen (Joe) Wixom, Linda (Jim) Parker, and Nancy (Louis) Crowl, and brother John (Peggy) Fulks. Nieces and nephews include Laura, Jeremy, Charlie, Jenny, and Melissa. She had several great nieces and nephews and beloved friends Frank, Martha, and Kimberly.
Graveside service will 10:30 am Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 8 pm with family present from 5 to 7 pm on Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
