-The McPherson Bullpups return to the Class 4A state tournament as the reigning champions, beating Tonganoxie 5-2 last spring... the Bullpups finished the 2022 season with a 23-2 record... this marks the ninth appearance for the Bullpups at the state tournament in program history... senior Hunter Alvord set the school record for batting average (.545) this season (6 HR, 47 RBI)

-The Little River Redskins are back in the 2-1A state tournament after finishing as runner-up in 2022, losing to Mission Valley, 5-4... the Redskins beat Ell-Saline, Canton-Galva and Sacred Heart in regional play... this marks the fourth state tournament appearance in program history... senior Braden Young leads the team with a .667 average and has 22 RBI, 52 runs scored and 35 stolen bases... the Redskins have just 11 players on their state roster
-The Sedgwick Cardinals are back in the 2-1A state tournament after winning the state title in 2021, beating Valley Falls, 11-1... this marks the fourth appearance in the state tournament for the Cardinals... Sedgwick defeated Flinthills, Leon-Bluestem and Remington in regional play... junior Jeff Nold leads the team with 29 total hits and 26 RBI... four of the five losses for the Cardinals have come to fellow 2-1A qualifiers Little River and quarterfinal foe Marion...
