ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.
Shortly after 8:30p.m. Wednesday an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of the 800 block Kansas Avenue in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson. The vehicle driven by 33-year-old Justen Houk fled from the officer and a pursuit followed until it was terminated on north River Road.
On Thursday police located and arrested Haukon on a District Court warrant for fleeing and attempting to elude police, driving while suspended, reckless driving, and other traffic offenses, according to Wilson.
Hauk has a previous conviction for Indecent Solicitation of a Child and two convictions for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. In May, the KDOC listed him as an absconder.
He is being held on a $2500 bond, according to online jail records.
