Norlan Leon Ferguson, 83, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Norlan was the former President/CEO of Ferguson Production.
He was born on June 18, 1940, in Cedar Vale, KS, the son of Cecil Fay and Nadine C. (Compton) Ferguson. From the age of 11, Norlan was raised by his uncle & aunt, Carl & Gail Jordan, whom he grew close to and considered parents. Following graduation from Severy High School, Norlan served in the United States Navy for four years.
Norlan was united in marriage to Sherrill Ann Mauk in 1961. He later married Jacqueline “Jackie” Mae (Ruggles) Short on November 29, 1985, in Eureka, KS.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and President of the McPherson Airport Authority. He served on numerous committees and boards for the McPherson Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 38 years, Jackie of the home; four children, Scott (Sally) Ferguson of McPherson, KS, Michelle (Chuck) Peaster of Douglass, KS, Kris Ruge of Boise, ID, and John (Andrea) Ferguson of McPherson, KS; two step-sons, Kent Short of Fredonia, KS and Troy (Carianne) Short of Hillsborough, NC; two brothers, David (Dottie) Ferguson of Cedar Vale, KS and Don Ferguson of Ponca City, OK; 15 grandchildren, Nicole (Levi) Eubanks of Parkville, MO, Joshua (Erika) Ferguson of Hutchinson, KS, Chad (Jennifer) Ferguson of Springtown, TX, Lindsey (Kurt) Gongaware of Surprise, AZ, Leighton Summers of Derby, KS, Madison Summers of Wichita, KS, Trevor Ruge of Lawrenceville, GA, Briana (Bret) Dooley of Andover, KS, Ian (Riho) Ferguson of El Dorado, KS, Troy (Kyra) Short of Escondido, CA, Tres Short (Justin Prunty) of Neodesha, KS, Slae Short of Farmington, MO, Cole Short of Fredonia, KS, Teel (Melody) Short of Chicago, IL, and Autumn Short of Hillsborough, NC; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Irene Ferguson and Nadine & Newman Campbell, and two brothers, Danny Ferguson and Bob Ferguson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 12, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
