KANSAS CITY— A Kansas City police officer was injured in an accident just after 3:30a.m. Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.
The officer was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and slowly proceeding along U.S. 169 Highway at Richards Road to block the southbound lanes, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
As the police officer, with emergency equipment activated, was preparing to block the second lane, a gray Nissan Sentra traveling behind the motorcycle failed to recognize that the officer was slowing down and nearly coming to a complete stop.
The car struck the motorcycle, causing the officer to be propelled over the motorcycle. The officer was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
