MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;Coming off a dominating 31-7 victory over No. 20 Arizona last Friday, Kansas State head coach&nbsp;Chris Klieman&nbsp;has been named The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl announced Monday.

The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.

This is the third time in Klieman’s six seasons at K-State that he has earned the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Week honor after also picking up the accolade following the 2020 and 2022 Oklahoma games.

“Coach Klieman has built the Kansas State football program into a consistent winner and a formidable force in the Big 12,” said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. “This was an impressive victory early in the season that has the Wildcats poised to be in contention for a spot in the new 12-team College Football Playoff.”

K-State’s win over 20th-ranked Arizona was the first regular-season non-conference home win over a ranked opponent since 2002. The Wildcats are now 3-0 for the third time under Klieman and the first time since 2021.

Ranked No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25, Kansas State begins its Big 12 slate on Saturday night in a 9:30 p.m. (CT) contest at BYU that will be televised by ESPN.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — This was supposed to be the breakthrough year at Kansas, when a program Lance Leipold built from nationwide laughingstock to respectability took another step into the upper echelon of the Big 12 and, just maybe, the College Football Playoff.

All of which could still happen. But it would take a dramatic turn of events.

After starting the season in the AP Top 25, the Jayhawks have lost back-to-back games to fall out altogether. The latest was Saturday night,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/unlv-kansas-football-score-daniels-sluka-kylin-james-59b073c9766295412279e5853ac732d6">a 23-20 loss to UNLV</a>&nbsp;in which Kansas dragged itself down with nine penalties, a defensive collapse that led to a touchdown to end the first half, and more ill-advised throws from veteran quarterback Jalon Daniels.

The one-time Heisman Trophy candidate had four turnovers the previous week&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-illinois-score-football-09f40ab35fb1adbbf7788c593687f02b">in a 23-17 loss at Illinois</a>. Daniels threw two more picks against the Runnin’ Rebels, giving him six this season, and he has just 442 yards and three TDs passing.

“He’s playing hard, but he’s not playing like the Jalon that we know,” Leipold admitted, before adding: “I’m going to put this on me. I’m not going to put it on the kids right now. We’ve got to figure out a better way to stay in rhythm and do it.”

The Jayhawks’ defense has kept them in both of their losses, holding UNLV to just 267 yards on Saturday night. That included 92 yards in the second half, and 39 on the ground, when Kansas should have been building upon its 17-13 halftime lead.

Instead, the Jayhawks managed only a field goal in the fourth quarter. And when they did get the ball back following UNLV’s go-ahead touchdown with 2 minutes to go, they were unable to produce another field goal that would have forced overtime.

Just how bad has the offense been under new coordinator Jeff Grimes? Kansas is last in the Big 12 in yards passing, averaging a meager 164.3 per game, and better than only Colorado, Iowa State and Houston in scoring at 28.3 points per game.

“We have to be able to finish,” Daniels said. “Our defense was out there on the field making plays left and right, and our offense has to be out there helping those guys out. We have to go in there and find a way to be better.”

Right away — because the sense of urgency is real with Big 12 play starting at West Virginia on Saturday.

Kansas is coming off back-to-back bowl games, and its nine wins were its most since 2007, when Mark Mangino was still on the sideline and the Jayhawks won the Orange Bowl. The school is in the midst of a massive rebuild of its on-campus football stadium, along with renovations that touch just about every other aspect of the program. And that energy has trickled down to a once-weary fanbase that packed Children’s Mercy Park for the Jayhawks’ two nonconference home games.

And with Oklahoma and Texas departing the Big 12 for the SEC this season, there were plenty of folks around Kansas — like a lot of other schools in the league — who viewed a sudden power vacuum atop the conference. Someone would wrestle control of the Big 12, and its spot in the College Football Playoff, and why couldn’t it be the Jayhawks?

That opportunity still exists, because their two losses have been out-of-conference games. The playoff system presently in place means those defeats are far less damaging than they might have been in past years.

Kansas will play its remaining home games at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Chiefs, and whether its 80,000 seats will be filled or empty for the Big 12 schedule will reflect whether the Jayhawks have been able to get back on track.

“We’ve got to reset all over again,” Daniels said. “At the end of the day, we still have the standard we go by every single day. We believe that abiding by that standard day-in and day-out, no matter what happens, will allow us to get the outcome we want.”

With the inclusion on the list, Johnson is now on the watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award, the second-straight year a Wildcat has been on the watch list for the award that honors the nation’s best quarterback. Previous K-State candidates for the award include Chad May (1994 finalist), Matt Miller (1995 finalist), Michael Bishop (1998 winner), Collin Klein (2012 finalist), Jake Waters (2014 semifinalist) Jesse Ertz (2017 preseason candidate) and Will Howard (2023 preseason candidate).

Leading K-State to its first non-conference home win against a ranked opponent since 2002, Johnson went 14-of-23 through the air for 156 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, but he did more of his damage on the ground by rushing for 110 yards on 17 carries. It was the most rushing yards by a K-State quarterback since Howard went for 125 yards against Oklahoma State in 2020.

Johnson tossed a career-long 48-yard pass in the game that also saw him throw two touchdown passes for the fourth-straight contest dating back to last year’s Pop-Tarts Bowl win over NC State.

Pacheco left Sunday's game in the final minute, was seen in a walking boot following the win. He had 19 carries for 90 yards and caught five passes for 21 yards in the win. He has rushed for 135 yards and a score in the two games this season.

The Chiefs will now have Samaje Perine and Carson Steele on the depth chart at running back.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 151 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. But it was his incomplete pass to Rashee Rice on fourth-and-16 from the Kansas City 35 that turned out to be decisive. Anthony arrived a split-second early and hit Rice from behind, and the penalty gave Kansas City a chance. A few plays later, Butker kicked the winner. Joe Burrow threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns, both to Andrei Iosivas, for the Bengals.

Carr, Kamara help Saints end Cowboys' 16-game home win streak in regular season with 44-19 win

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Alvin Kamara scored four touchdowns, including a 57-yarder on a screen pass, and the New Orleans Saints ended Dallas' 16-game home win streak in the regular season with a 44-19 victory. Derek Carr threw for 243 yards and two TDs with a 1-yard sneak for a score. The Saints got touchdowns on their first six drives a week after setting a franchise record by starting the season with points on nine consecutive possessions in a 47-10 rout of Carolina. It was actually the second straight loss at AT&amp;T Stadium for the Cowboys after the 48-32 wild-card shocker against Green Bay last January.

Sam Darnold and an attacking defense drive the undefeated Vikings in a 23-17 win over the 49ers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Sam Darnold passed for 268 yards and two touchdowns against his former team, including a 97-yard strike in the second quarter to Justin Jefferson, and an attacking defense again fueled the Minnesota Vikings in a 23-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The Vikings got three field goals by rookie Will Reichard and six sacks and two interceptions against Brock Purdy to overcome two turnovers and a quadriceps injury that forced Jefferson out of the game in the third quarter. Darnold spent last season backing up Purdy with the 49ers.

Stroud throws a TD pass and Fairbairn kicks 4 field goals to help the Texans top the Bears 19-13

HOUSTON (AP) — C.J. Stroud threw for 260 yards and a touchdown and Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked four field goals to help the Houston Texans top the Chicago Bears 19-13. Fairbairn connected from 56, 47, 59 and 53 yards, and Houston's defense put heavy pressure on Caleb Williams for much of the game. Stroud's 28-yard scoring pass to Nico Collins put Houston up 10-3 early in the second quarter, and the Texans led 16-10 at halftime. Houston had trouble moving the ball in the second half, but its defense intercepted Williams twice to secure the victory. Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, was 23 of 37 for 174 yards. He was sacked seven times.

Texas on top! Longhorns take over at No. 1 in AP Top 25 for first time in 16 years, jumping Georgia

Texas is No. 1 in The Associated Press college football poll for the first time in 16 years, replacing Georgia after the Bulldogs struggled to remain unbeaten against Kentucky. The Longhorns moved up a spot from No. 2 and received 35 first-place votes and 1,540 points. The Bulldogs, who have been No. 1 since the preseason poll, received 23 first-place votes and 1,518 points. Ohio State received five first-place votes and stayed at No. 3. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will see a neurologist this week after suffering his fourth diagnosed concussion in five years and his third while in the NFL, according to a person familiar with his plans. Tagovailoa is focused on getting better and gathering information and isn't thinking about retiring, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity for privacy reasons. Tagovailoa was injured on a scramble when he lowered his head and collided into Bills safety Damar Hamlin during Miami's 31-10 loss to Buffalo on Thursday night. WICHITA, Kan.—The Wichita Wind Surge ended the regular season on top 4-2 over the Tulsa Drillers at Riverfront Stadium. Wichita combined for 10 hits in the season finale.

C.J. Culpepper&nbsp;struck out five batters over as many innings in his final start of the season for the Wind Surge. He kept Tulsa off of the scoreboard with only three hits going against him on the afternoon.

Walker Jenkins&nbsp;brought in his first Double-A RBI in the form of Ben Ross on a two-bagger to right field in the home half of the fifth.

Alex Isola&nbsp;homered off of the scoreboard in the next inning to tie the Wichita career home run mark at 32.&nbsp;Dalton Shuffield&nbsp;singled to center to push the Wind Surge ahead 3-0 through six frames.

Both sides traded runs in the seventh with the Drillers getting on the board after a solo shot by Brendon Davis to left field. Isola singled home another runner to give a three-run cushion to Wichita.

⚾ Wind Surge victorious in final game of the 2024 season

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Isiah Kiner-Falefa had three hits, including a go-ahead single in the fifth inning, as the Pittsburgh Pirates avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

Billy Cook lined a single to left to start the fifth and&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/AlexJStumpf/status/1835395599278948756" target="_blank">scored from first on a hit and run</a>&nbsp;when Kiner-Falefa shot one to center past a diving Bobby Witt Jr. at short to put the Pirates ahead 3-2. Kiner-Falefa also singled in the first and sixth innings.

“Billy never hesitates. He never breaks stride,” Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton said. “We get a run on a groundball to center field just because of the fact of his awareness. Outstanding.”

Kansas City’s Brady Singer (9-11), who gave up four runs on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five innings, later walked Rowdy Tellez with the bases loaded to bring the Pittsburgh lead to 4-2.

“In the fifth, (Singer) just kind of lost command a little bit there,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “Unlike him. But overall, I thought his stuff was fine, just his command was a little bit off.”

Carmen Mlodzinski (3-5) pitched a perfect fifth inning in relief of Pirates starter Jared Jones, who allowed two runs and six hits in the first four. Aroldis Chapman struck out one in a perfect ninth for his ninth save.

The Royals, four games back of first-place Cleveland in the AL Central, had the bases loaded with two outs in the sixth. Colin Holderman walked Witt Jr. to bring in a run but Dennis Santana entered to get Salvador Perez to fly out and limit the damage.

“We needed to capitalize more,” Quatraro said. “We put a lot of pressure on them. We drove up the pitch count early. We had baserunners in several innings and just couldn’t come up with the big hit to really take the lead or break it open.”

Bryan Reynolds gave the Pirates an initial lead on a double into the left-field corner after Kiner-Falefa led off the first with a base hit.

Yuli Gurriel tied it 1-1 on a sacrifice fly in the second after Kansas City started the inning with a Paul DeJong single between two walks.

Tommy Pham opened the third with a triple off the top of the Clemente Wall in right.

Witt Jr. then flew out to Cook,&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Pirates/status/1835384264319275295" target="_blank">whose throw home from right field beat Pham to preserve the tie</a>. It came from near the line to the right of a No. 21 etched into the outfield grass on Roberto Clemente Day, observed across the majors.

To just be able to play the game the right way out there as a tribute to him while wearing the number, really special.”

⚾ Royals drop series finale in Pittsburgh

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Harrison Butker kept making a lonely walk to midfield after each quarter Sunday to check on the direction of the wind, which tends to swirl inside Arrowhead Stadium. He did it one last time during the 2-minute warning, when his Chiefs were trailing the Bengals by two and trying to give him a winning field-goal attempt.

When Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the offense did exactly that, helped along by a pass interference call on Cincinnati safety Daijahn Anthony on fourth down in the final minute, Butker once again headed onto the field as Chiefs fans began to roar.

Rarely does he miss. And they didn’t expect him to this time.

With preternatural calm, Butker drilled the 51-yarder as time expired, giving Kansas City the 26-25 victory.

“I try to block it out,” Butker said of the crowd noise. “It’s hard not to feed off it, but I try to block it out. What I don’t like is when you’re trotting onto the field and everyone is clapping, and I’m like, ‘The game’s not over yet. I still have to make this kick.’”

Patrick Mahomes threw for 151 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, but it was his incomplete pass intended for Rashee Rice on fourth-and-16 from the Kansas City 35 that turned out to be decisive. Anthony arrived a split-second early and moved Rice from behind with his body, and flags flew with 38 seconds remaining to keep the Chiefs alive.

The penalty came just after Kansas City had a long gain on fourth down wiped out by a penalty of its own.

Chamarri Conner returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown for the Chiefs, and big offensive tackle Wanya Morris — who had the penalty that nearly cost them in the final minute — had a touchdown reception on a day full of bizarre plays.

It was the second win for Kansas City decided on the final play after its 27-20 victory over Baltimore on opening night.

“That’s two great football games we’ve played the last two weeks, teams we played in the AFC championship game,” Mahomes said. “We’re going to clean up the mistakes, especially on the offense. It starts with me. And we’ll be a better team for it.”

The Chiefs struggled in their first game with Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely, who had nine catches for 111 yards and a score. And with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins absent with an ailing hamstring, Burrow leaned heavily on his own tight ends — Drew Sample, Mike Gesicki and rookie Erick All Jr. — to move an offense that never got going last weekend against New England.

Sample and Gesicki accounted for most of the yardage on an opening drive that produced a field goal. A few minutes later, after Mahomes was picked by Akeem Davis-Gaither, All’s catch helped set up Iosivas’ touchdown reception.

All that and the hijinks were just beginning.

The Chiefs pulled ahead early in the second half, when Mahomes popped a pass to his 310-pound tackle-eligible Morris for a touchdown. The Bengals answered on fourth-and-goal when Burrow connected with Iosivas for a second time, only to see Burrow get stripped a few minutes later and Conner return the fumble 37 yards for another touchdown.

Evan McPherson’s fourth field goal gave the Bengals a 25-23 lead with 5:12 to go, and their defense gave them the ball back. But the Chiefs forced a punt with 2:59 remaining, giving Mahomes and Co. the opportunity to decide the game.

Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth quarter. Chase was stopped short of the first-down marker on second-and-11, and he appeared to be upset that a flag was not throw for a hip-drop tackle. He got right into the face of referee Alex Kemp, who threw the flag. It forced a third-and-22 at the Chiefs 45, and after a completion to Gesicki got 10 yards back, McPherson kicked the field goal that gave the Bengals a 25-23 lead.

“It’s pretty clear cut. It’s just simply abusive language toward a game official,” Kemp said. “I’m not going to repeat to you what he said, but there was no interpretation with the language that he used. Just abusive language.”

Chase refused to discuss the penalty in the postgame locker room, saying only: “It doesn’t feel great losing.”

“It’s OK to be emotional,” Taylor said. “I can’t see everything that’s said or done, so it’s better that I not comment on it.”

Bengals: DT B.J. Hill (hamstring) left in the second quarter. DT Sheldon Rankins (hamstring) left in the fourth.

Chiefs: RB Isiah Pacheco left in the final minute and was seen in a walking boot with crutches leaving the stadium. Reid did not provide any details other than to say he would undergo tests on Monday.

Cincinnati returns home to play Washington on Sept. 23.

Kansas City heads to Atlanta on Sunday night.

🏈 Butker hits game-winner to lift Chiefs past Bengals

 PITTSBURGH (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. drove in his 100th run of the season with a solo homer in the first inning, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 on Saturday.

Witt also hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a run-scoring double in the sixth. He went 2 for 3 to raise his MLB-leading batting average to .333. He also has 31 homers and 102 RBI.

“It’s hard to set personal goals because you never know what might happen during the season,” Witt said. “So, I just take it day by day, play the game and let things happen on their own. But 100 RBI does mean a lot. I’m happy to be able to do that.”

Michael Wacha (13-7) gave up one run in five innings to improve to 9-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 13 starts since the beginning of July. He allowed four hits, walked three and struck out eight.

“The first two innings were really efficient then in the third inning they started working some walks and long counts, working some good ABs and really made me work,” Wacha said. “I wish I could have gone a little deeper, but the bullpen came in and did a great job.”

John Schreiber, Sam Long, James McArthur, Kris Bubic and Lucas Erceg combined for four innings of five-hit ball for Kansas City.

The Royals won for the seventh time in nine games since a seven-game losing streak as they try to reach the postseason for the first time since winning the World Series in 2015. The Royals also assured themselves of their first winning season since 2015 by raising their record to 82-67.

“It really doesn’t mean that much to me,” manager Matt Quatraro said of having a winning record after going 56-106 last season. “Our guys have set the bar much higher than that. They’ve wanted to win the division since the first day of spring training and we might need 90-some wins to do that.”

Kansas City began the day with a 2½-game lead over Minnesota for the second AL wild card. The Royals trailed first-place Cleveland by three games in the AL Central.

The Royals had five stolen bases, three by Maikol Garcia and two by Kyle Isbel.

Mitch Keller (11-10) lost for the fifth time in his last six decisions, allowing four runs — three earned — and four hits with six strikeouts and one walk. The Pirates made three errors behind Keller.

“We gave up a couple runs that were situations he couldn’t control,” Pirates manager Derek Shelton said. “I didn’t think he had his best stuff, but I thought he was able to grind through it and continue to get outs.”

After Witt staked the Royals to the early 1-0 lead, the Royals scored twice in the fifth. Adam Frazier tripled past diving center field Oneil Cruz and scored on Garcia’s double before Witt hit a sacrifice fly.

The Pirates scored their lone run in the fifth on an RBI single by Cruz. They are 14-24 since Aug. 4.

Kansas City’s Michael Massey doubled and scored on third baseman Jared Triolo’s error in the fifth. Witt’s RBI double in the sixth that was misplayed by Cruz made it 5-1.

Bryan Reynolds and Triolo each had two hits for the Pirates.

Royals: RHP Chris Stratton (right forearm flexor strain) was placed on the 15-day injured list and LHP Angel Zerpa was recalled from Triple-A Omaha. Stratton will undergo imaging Monday when the Royals return home from their road trip.

The series concludes Sunday with Royals RHP Brady Singer (9-10, 3.42 ERA) facing rookie RHP Jared Jones (6-7, 3.82 ERA). Singer is 1-4 with a 5.17 ERA in his last seven starts.

England could be barred from UEFA competitions if new regulator's powers are not 'strictly limited'

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — England and English soccer teams could be removed from UEFA competitions if a new regulator is considered to be "Government interference" in the sport. In a letter sent by UEFA to the U.K.'s new culture secretary Lisa Nandy, European soccer's governing body raised concerns about a proposed independent football regulator (IFR) in English soccer, which is intended to ensure the financial sustainability of clubs and stop teams from joining breakaway competitions like the European Super League. UEFA regulations state there should be no government interference in the running of soccer.

WICHITA, Kan.—The Wichita Wind Surge fell in come-from-behind fashion 3-2 versus the Tulsa Drillers at Riverfront Stadium. Tulsa scored all three of their runs in the final three innings to come away with the win.

Pierson Ohl&nbsp;struck out five across six innings of six-hit baseball tonight. In his final appearance of the Double-A season, he stayed firm in a close game that represented the penultimate one for the Wind Surge in 2024.

Ben Ross&nbsp;brought&nbsp;Aaron Sabato&nbsp;home on a sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the second for the first run of the night.

Kala’i Rosario&nbsp;got hit by a pitch to start the home half of the fifth inning.&nbsp;Alex Isola&nbsp;and&nbsp;Andrew Cossetti&nbsp;both saw walks of their own to load the bases.&nbsp;Aaron Sabato&nbsp;followed up by watching a breaking ball bounce in the dirt to give Wichita a 2-0 lead.

Donovan Casey cut the Wind Surge lead in half on a single back up the middle in the top of the seventh. Tulsa more than doubled Wichita in the hit column tonight.

The Drillers took the lead in the top of the ninth inning on a pair of doubles to right field from Jose Izarra and Yeiner Fernandez for a 3-2 lead.

Jake Rucker&nbsp;walked on as the tying run before being replaced by&nbsp;Dalton Shuffield, who swiftly stole second base in the bottom of the ninth. The following two batters were then retired to end the game.

Miguel Rodriguez&nbsp;dropped to 1-7 after taking the loss. He gave up two hits and two unearned runs while striking out the side in the ninth inning.

⚾ Wichita Wind Surge bullpen fails to hold off Drillers

GREAT BEND — Sophomore Kaitlyn Edwards scored a game-tying goal in the 73rd minute on Saturday to help the No. 18-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team earn a key conference road point against the Barton Cougars.

Edwards’ goal helped the Blue Dragons to a 1-1 draw with the Cougars, who were receiving votes in last week’s NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer rankings.

Hutchinson is now 4-1-2 overall and 3-1-2 (11 points in the KJCCC). The Blue Dragons play host to No. 11 Kansas City on Wednesday at the Salthawk Soccer Complex. Barton is now 3-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the KJCCC.

The Blue Dragons weren’t able to muster much offense in the first half going into a strong south wind and trailed Barton 1-0 at halftime. It took a while in the second half for the Dragons to create scoring chances, but a golden chance game in the 73rd minute.

Freshman Kira Artmann directed a free kick from left of the goal toward the right post. Edwards put a header past Barton goalkeeper Mio Tanaka from 7 yards out, tying the game at 1-1 with 17:34 remaining in the second half.

Edwards scored her seventh goal of the season. Artmann has assists in 4 of 7 games played this season.

The pace of the game opened up after Edwards’ goal.

Blue Dragon goalkeeper Karsyn Slothower (3-1-1) made two saves in the final 8 minutes. Tanaka had three saves in the final 10 minutes.

Barton took a 1-0 lead with 1:27 to play in the first half. Barton’s Leticia Quadros’ free kick from 35-yards out was saved by Slothower, but Fiona Jolly scored on loose ball for a 1-0 lead.

Slothower had a season-high nine saves for Hutchinson, bringing her career total to 121 saves, third-most in Blue Dragon history.

Barton out-shot the Blue Dragons 17-6 overall and 10-5 in shots on goal.

The Blue Dragons are now 21-7-4 all-time against Hutchinson.

⚽ Dragons draw with Cougars

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to down No. 12 Iowa Central, 33-30, in overtime on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

Sophomore kicker Nestus Burger drilled a 36-yard field goal to give the Blue Dragons the win. This came after Iowa Central missed a 38-yard field goal wide left.

"There's a lot less pressure on your back going out there, knowing you only need three points," head coach Drew Dallas said. "You go out there and operate knowing you have a kicker like Nestus that has a strong leg, going into the wind."

Saturday marked the first overtime game for HutchCC since the Blue Dragons upended Iowa Central on Sept. 10, 2022, at Gowans Stadium, 31-28, a game that was won on a walk-off field goal by Cole Seagraves.

Hutchinson (3-0) trailed 30-16 with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter after quarterback Samari Collier threw an interception that was taken back for an Iowa Central (1-2) touchdown.

The Blue Dragons then orchestrated two touchdown drives within a three-minute span to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The Salley Jr. touchdown capped a seven-play, 55-yard drive.The Blue Dragons only had two leads in the game, 6-0, in the opening quarter, and the 33-30 final score.&nbsp;Collier finished the game 23-of-40 passing for 300 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a team-high 89 yards rushing. The 300 yards passing is a new career-high for Collier.Hutchinson is now 9-1 all-time against Iowa Central and 2-0 in overtime games under Dallas. The Blue Dragons are now 5-4 all-time in overtime games played.&nbsp;The Blue Dragons are off until Sept. 28, when they will host Ellsworth (0-3) at Gowans Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
