WICHITA, Kan. -&nbsp;For the second time this season Wichita State has swept American Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/alex-aguilar/7249">Alex Aguilar</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/sydney-mckinney/7236">Sydney McKinney</a>&nbsp;picked up the weekly honors after going 4-0 last week. McKinney makes it back-to-back weeks as the American Player of the Week and third time overall in 2023. The nation's leading hitter went 9-for-13 over four games, slashing .692/.722/1.077. She was responsible for 18 runs (9 RBI, 9 runs scored) behind a triple, home run, four walks and a pair of stolen bases. In Wichita State's upset of No. 2 Oklahoma State, McKinney was 2-for-4 with an RBI. To open the Memphis series, she was 2-for-3 with a triple, two walks, four runs and four RBI. After a 2-for-2 afternoon in Friday's win, McKinney recorded a three-hit game, including a home run, two RBI and three runs in the series finale. Aguilar notched her second Pitcher of the Week honor after tossing 11.0 scoreless innings in two appearances over the weekend. Aguilar was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and eight strikeouts. The Texas native registered he fifth complete game shutout of the season in Wichita State's 20-0 win at Memphis. She allowed only three hits in opener. Aguilar then pitched 6.0 innings of shutout relief in the series finale behind five strikeouts. Wichita State will rest up before hosting Houston this weekend at Wilkins Stadium. 🥎 Aguilar, McKinney Sweep AAC weekly honors

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs have a new coach. 

Casey Lippoldt will be taking the reins for the team's 15th year.  Casey has been coaching since 2009, where he started with the American Legion in Pratt, KS. and was a student assistant coach at Emporia state University. 

 He has coached at El Dorado, KS high school &amp; with the Derby Twins.  He played his final two summers of collegiate baseball with the Hutchinson Monarchs.  Casey &amp; his wife Tiffany have two sons.  

The new assistant coach is Ryan Pinkall.   He is a Kansas native, originally from Pratt.  Ryan played at Friends University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science.  He also played and coached with Casey Lippoldt in the American Legion League.   Ryan currently is a Biology instructor at Hutchinson Community College.  He also officiates football for the MIAA.  Ryan is looking forward to a great first season and getting back on the field with Casey.  

Monarch owners Kim and Mark Blackim said in a social media post, "We are excited to see where Casey &amp; Ryan can take this team in 2023."

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –&nbsp;On Easter Sunday, Kansas dropped the series finale to No. 19-ranked West Virginia, 12-3, at Monongalia County Ballpark. Despite the defeat, Kansas secured the series win on Saturday and has won back-to-back Big 12 series for the first time since the 2017 season (vs. Oklahoma State/at #19 Oklahoma).

The series win is the first over a ranked opponent for the Jayhawks since sweeping No. 20 St. John’s in 2018 and the first on the road since taking two of three against No. 19 Oklahoma in Norman in 2017.

Kansas (15-15, 5-4 Big 12) took an early lead on Sunday with a first inning run. The game started with back-to-back errors by the Mountaineers. Then, senior Cole Elvis smashed an infield single to shortstop to score freshman Jackson Kline and give Kansas a 1-0 lead.

West Virginia (23-9, 3-3 Big 12) had its first five batters reach base in the first inning. A leadoff single followed by back-to-back hit by pitches and consecutive bases-loaded walks made it 2-1 in favor of West Virginia. An RBI single, bases-loaded hit by pitch and RBI fielder’s choice pushed the West Virginia lead to 5-1 after one inning. The five runs scored on two hits, two walks and three hit by pitches.

Elvis continued his big series by blasting his third home run of the weekend, a solo shot in the third inning. The homer by Elvis was his seventh of the season and cut the deficit to 5-2.

The Mountaineers added two runs in the fourth, one run in the sixth and one run in the seventh to stretch their lead to 9-2. Two of those runs were on solo home runs off the bat of Landon Wallace.

In the eighth inning, junior Janson Reeder hit a solo home run down the right field line. The homer was his eighth of the season and his second in as many days after homering on Saturday. That made the score 9-3 and was all the Jayhawks would get the rest of the day. The Mountaineers added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to end the scoring at 12-3.

Junior Ethan Bradford started for Kansas and struggled with his command, only lasting 0.1 inning. He allowed five runs and on two hits with two walks and two hit batters. Junior Hunter Cashero came in for Bradford and tossed 2.2 scoreless frames for the Jayhawks.

⚾️ Kansas wins series, drops finale to West Virginia

CONCORDIA –&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/henderson_ryan_sab3">Ryan Henderson</a>&nbsp;hit a game-tying solo home run in the seventh and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/edmunson_will_rdcc">Will Edmunson</a>&nbsp;later followed with a go-ahead two-run blast in the 10th inning to power the Hutchinson Community College baseball team to a critical 5-3 victory in the Jayhawk West series finale on Saturday at Cloud County.

The Thunderbirds won the series with a 10-4 victory in the first game at Doyen Field on Saturday. The Blue Dragons avoided a four-game sweep, rallying from a 3-0 deficit after five innings.

The Blue Dragons are now 19-18 overall and 10-10 in the Jayhawk West. Cloud County is now 20-15 overall and 9-7 in the league. The Blue Dragons travel to NOC-Tonkawa on Tuesday and will play Cowley in a four-game weekend series beginning on Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field.

GAME 2 RECAP Edmunson was 2 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead the Blue Dragons in the series finale.

The Blue Dragon right fielder and Jayhawk West's leading hitter hit a two-run home run to left field to get the Dragons on the board and cut the Cloud County lead to 3-2.

The Dragons then tied the game as Henderson led off the seventh inning with a home-run to left-center field and knot the game at 3-all.

With two-out in the 10th inning,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/cymbalista_colin_zaji">Colin Cymbalista</a>&nbsp;singled and then scored on Edmunson's two-run go-ahead home run to center field to give the Dragons a 5-3 lead.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/beverman_brady_cf7n">Brady Beverman</a>&nbsp;(1-1) tossed two shutout innings to earn his first victory of the season. He worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the 10th, but had a tremendous defensive play on&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/davis_jon_ucpo">Jon Davis</a>' diving catch for the second out of the inning.

Beverman struck out two and didn't allow a run, hit or walk in his two innings.

The Blue Dragon bullpen combined for five shutout innings and just four hits allowed.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/dandelet_ben_xj34">Ben Dandelet</a>&nbsp;worked three innings with four hits and no runs surrendered. He struck out two and walked one.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/giesbrecht_ethan_uono">Ethan Giesbrecht</a>&nbsp;started and worked the first five innings. He struck out seven and walked three, allowing four hits and three runs.

The Blue Dragons out-hit Cloud County 10-8.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/gardner_jack_8lt5">Jack Gardner</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/powell_christian_dv61">Christian Powell</a>&nbsp;had two hits each.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/wesslund_cooper_zdq0">Cooper Wesslund</a>&nbsp;had a triple.

GAME 1 RECAP Cymbalista homered twice and Edmunson had a double and triple to lead the Blue Dragons, but Cloud County pounded out 13 hits, including six extra-base hits and three home runs in a seven-run Cloud County fifth inning.

Cymbalista was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs.

⚾ Blue Dragons rally to earn double-header split at Cloud County

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.&nbsp;– Kansas women’s golf fell to No. 7 Texas, 4-1-0, in the Big 12 Match Play Tournament championship round Sunday at Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Jayhawks entered the Big 12 Match Play Tournament as the No. 7 seed, while Texas was the No. 1 seed in the nine-team field. KU finished pool play No. 1 and defeated No. 12 Baylor in the semifinals Saturday afternoon, winning the match in a tiebreaker. Texas defeated TCU, 3-2-0, to reach the title tilt.&nbsp;

Sunday’s title match was competitive throughout with three matches going down to the final hole. KU super senior Abby Glynn was the lone Jayhawk to win her match, 3&amp;1, over Texas’ Bentley Cotton.&nbsp;

“I know we are disappointed because we had a taste of what it would be like to win,” Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. “I am proud of them and how hard they are working and how badly they want to win for KU.”

On Friday, Kansas went 0-2-2 tying top-seeded Texas and No. 5 seed Oklahoma State before falling to No. 3 seed Iowa State and No. 6 seed Texas Tech by identical 3-2-0 scores.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“The first day we had the hardest draw with No. 7 Texas and No. 24 Oklahoma State and to tie those matches and get five points was a huge confidence boost for us,” Kuhle said. “That afternoon we lost to Iowa State and Texas Tech but we were still playing well.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kansas entered Saturday’s final round of pool play in eighth place with the Jayhawks having scored nine points in four matches on Friday. Then on Saturday morning, the Jayhawks dominated No. 8 seed Oklahoma 5-0-0 and defeated No. 9 seed Kansas State, 3-2-0.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kansas’ eight points scored Saturday morning vaulted the Jayhawks up to the No. 1 seed heading into bracket play with 17.0 total points which was just ahead of TCU and Texas’ 16.5 points. Kansas’ 5-0 sweep of Oklahoma was the lone sweep in the three pool-play rounds of the Big 12 Match Play Tournament, an event that consisted of 27 head-to-head matches among the league schools.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“The turning point in the tournament was yesterday morning when we beat K-State and Oklahoma and got eight out of 10 points,” Kuhle said. “We’ve been fired up the entire spring season and after some good results here in Arizona, we’ve really come together more as a team, have bought in and are set on accomplishing some of the lofty goals we set last fall.”&nbsp;

In the semifinal match, down one heading to the final hole, KU sophomore Johanna Ebner edged Baylor’s Britta Snyder by one shot to tie her match and make the semifinal battle 2-2-1. Kansas won its two matches against Baylor by a total of 7 up compared to Baylor being 4 up in its two victories, advancing KU to the Big 12 Match Play Championship.&nbsp;

“The girls are excited to compete and they are confident and that showed against Baylor,” Kuhle said. “They fought really hard. Johanna was down and we knew we would win the tiebreaker if Johanna birdied the last hole. She hit a pitch to four feet and made a birdie putt to tie and we won the tiebreaker.”&nbsp;

Individually, Kansas graduate senior Esme Hamilton posted a 5-3-0 record at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament as she won all three of her matches on Saturday. Sophomore Lauren Clark also went 5-3-0 that included winning two of her three battles on Saturday. Sophomore Jordan Rothman won both of her Saturday morning matches and posted a 4-3-1 record, while Glynn went 4-3-1 including her win in the title battle. Ebner, 1-4-1, and freshman Anna Wallin, 0-2-0, split duties during the event.&nbsp;

“To get those three wins yesterday were really big for our program,” Kuhle said. “Today was really special because we were all really confident and playing for a championship and believed we could win.&nbsp;

&nbsp;“We proved that we can compete against some of the best teams in our conference who are some of the best teams in the country,” Kuhle said. “It was a great experience for the girls to feel pressure and how to handle that. I hope they use this for motivation for the next tournament, the Big 12 Championship.”&nbsp;

Kansas will next compete in the Big 12 Championship, April 21-23, at the Dallas Athletic Club, in Dallas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

WICHITA – Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/hamilton_sharim_i49d">Sharim Hamilton</a>&nbsp;had the top individual performance for the Hutchinson Community College men's track and field team at the KT Woodman Classic by winning the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday.

Running the final of five sections from Lane 7, the Blue Dragon sophomore ran a career-best time of 53.08 seconds to win the event at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium. Already a national qualifier, Hamilton bettered his career-best time in the event by .78 seconds and is now ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA.

Hamilton was one of five Top 10 finishes for the Blue Dragons over the two days of the KT Woodman Classic, which featured NCAA Division I and Division II teams as well as NAIA and NJCAA competition.

Saturday started strong as the 4x100 relay team placed fifth overall. The relay of&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/smith_omari_ulwa">Omari Smith</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/browne_dimetre_nfic">Dimetre Browne</a>, Cameron Campbell and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/seamster_ezekiel_tjbo">Ezekiel Seamster</a>&nbsp;ran a time of 42.00 seconds.

The Blue Dragons had two athletes reach the finals of the long jump. Browne placed fifth overall with a jump of 23 feet, 1.5 inches (7.05m).&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/manning_caleb_yxs7">Caleb Manning</a>&nbsp;was seventh at 22-6 (6.86m)

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/dimond_adrian_fuju">Adrian Dimond</a>&nbsp;made the finals of the triple jump and placed seventh overall with a PR performance of 44-3.5 inches (13.50m).

The Blue Dragons earned one new national qualifier at the KT Woodman Classic. Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2022-23/bios/turpin_carsyn_h2c1">Carsyn Turpin</a>&nbsp;qualified in the 10,000-meters, which was ran on Friday night) with a PR time of 33:36.24.

Five different Blue Dragon athletes posted PRs in the 100 meters on Saturday – Seamster ran a 10.69, Campbell a 10.93, Smith an 11.08, Tracey Mason an 11.84 and A.J. Weninger a 12.04.

Campbell posted a career-best time in the 200 of 22.67 seconds.

👟 MTK: HutchCC's Sharim Hamilton wins at KT Woodman 400 Hurdles

WICHITA – Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/hernandez_madelyn_xh1v">Madelyn Hernandez</a>&nbsp;had a Top 5 finish in the high jump and a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team on Saturday at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium.

Hernandez finished third in the Woodman high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 4.5 inches (1.64m), her second-best performance of the season.

During the high jump, Hernandez stepped onto the track and posted a PR in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 14.96 seconds, which is only .25 seconds off the national qualifying time.

In a field filled with NCAA Division I and Division II talent as well as top NAIA and NJCAA competition, the Blue Dragons had 10 new PRs over the two days of the KT Woodman Classic.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/limon_liberty_kvcl">Liberty Limon</a>&nbsp;and sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/watkins_emme_5qoi">Emme Watkins</a>&nbsp;had top performances in the triple jump. Limon went 34-9 (10.60m). Watkins went 31-10.75 (9.72m).

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/romney_keneah_z4mj">Keneah Romney</a>&nbsp;ran 1L08.93 in the 400-meter hurdles, which is a career-best time.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/grauer_sydney_di4q">Sydney Grauer</a>&nbsp;knocked 50 full seconds off her previous-best 3,000-meter steeplechase time. Grauer ran 13:00.80 on Friday night.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/hoskinson_taylor_a2wy">Taylor Hoskinson</a>&nbsp;PR'ed in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:02.32.

UNDATED (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a one-year contract with receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The Ravens announced the move Sunday. The 30-year-old Beckham did not play last season following ACL surgery. He joins a Baltimore team that used the franchise tag on quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has asked to be traded. Even with Jackson, the Ravens’ passing game was limited by a lack of production from their wide receivers. Rashod Bateman played only six games last season. Aside from tight end Mark Andrews, no Baltimore player managed even 500 yards receiving.

UNDATED (AP) — Dirt-racing star Christopher Bell held on through a restart eight laps from the end and outran Tyler Reddick to win the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bell was a whiz-kid dirt sensation growing up and that experience helped the Joe Gibbs Racing driver to his fifth victory in the NASCAR Cup Series. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Michael Conforto hit a two-run homer off Ryan Yarbrough to cap a three-run rally in the eighth inning that sent the San Francisco Giants to a 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

One day after blowing a 4-0 lead in the eighth and losing their second consecutive game to Kansas City, the Giants turned the tables.

Bryce Johnson started the comeback with a one-out single off Yarbrough (0-1). Thairo Estrada flied out before Wilmer Flores doubled in the tying run, with Johnson racing around the bases to score.

“He fired me up from the on-deck circle,” Conforto said. “I’m down there supposed to tell him which way to slide, so I had a great view of it. It’s just an incredible play. Just an all-around great inning sets it up for me to have that at-bat. I just kept it simple.”

Conforto then drilled a 72 mph curveball over the right-center wall for his third homer since signing with San Francisco as a free agent in January. The outfielder sat out last season while recovering from shoulder surgery.

“I think one of the contributions that nobody sees is the calm presence that (Conforto) is,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said. “He’s had some struggles early in the season. We were talking about potentially giving him a day off today. But his contributions have been professional and calm and measured. He understands that this is a really long season and you’re going to go through stretches of games where you don’t necessarily get the big hit. A moment like this was inevitable coming for Michael, and glad he had a big one for us today.”

It was Conforto's 28th career homer off a left-hander — he's hit 107 against righties. He began the day with a .225 career batting average vs. lefties.

“I’ve been working really hard on just keeping my shoulder in against lefties,” Conforto said. “I’ve been a little uncomfortable against them and that was just kind of the culmination of some work. Just the reaction from my teammates, the fans, was great.”

John Brebbia (1-0) retired one batter in relief for the win. Tyler Rogers worked the ninth for his first save.

Until the eighth, the Royals appeared well on their way to completing the series sweep.

Kris Bubic was dazzling in his second start of the season for Kansas City, matching his career high of nine strikeouts in six innings. He retired 10 straight after hitting Conforto, the No. 3 batter, with a pitch in the first inning.

Bubic didn’t allow a hit until David Villar’s leadoff single in the fifth. He worked out of a two-on, two-out jam in the same inning and set down his final four hitters.

Kansas City backed him with steady relief until the Giants tied it.

The Royals again were kept mostly quiet on offense but broke through for a run against Giants starter Anthony DeSclafani in the fourth. Vinnie Pasquantino hit a two-out double and scored on Salvador Perez’s single.

A day earlier, Perez hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to spark Kansas City’s 6-5 victory after being down 4-0.

DeSclafani, unbeaten in his past 11 appearances against American League teams, had seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. He allowed three hits and walked none.

The Giants optioned INF Matt Beaty to Triple-A Sacramento and recalled OF Heliot Ramos, who started in left field and batted eighth.

Giants: C Gary Sánchez could be back in the big leagues soon. San Francisco’s depth at catcher is being tested with Roberto Perez (strained shoulder) on the 60-day injured list and Joey Bart (mid-back strain) on a rehab assignment. Sánchez was the DH at Triple-A Sacramento in his season debut Saturday and went 1 for 4 with a two-run single and two strikeouts.

Royals: RHP Zack Greinke (0-2, 2.38 ERA) pitches Monday at Texas.

Giants: RHP Logan Webb (0-2, 6.55 ERA) faces Dodgers LHP Julio Urías (2-0, 1.50) on Monday in San Francisco’s first game against a National League team this season.

⚾ K-State drops rubber game at No. 21 Texas

LAWRENCE, Kan.&nbsp;– The Kansas track and field program had an extremely strong showing at the Lloyd Wills Invitational at LSU, claiming multiple victories and new personal bests.

Chandler Gibbens kept his momentum rolling for a second week in a row, this time running the 1500m and setting a new meet record in the event. He recorded a 3:48.02, which earned him the victory as well as a new personal best time.

The women’s distance crew recorded various PR’s throughout the meet. Avryl Johnson ran a 2:06.54 in the 800m for a new meet record and personal best time in the event.

Three Jayhawks made up the top four of the women’s 3000m, with freshman Tori Wingrove winning with her 10:10.71, while Makenna Anderson took third (10:22.53) and Caroline Burrow took fourth (10:31.15).

In the women’s 1500m, Lona Latema won with her 4:26.16, while Addie Coppinger claimed second place with 4:26.75.

The men’s pole vault and the men’s mid-distance crews both had top five sweeps, making for an exciting couple of events.

In the pole vault, Clayton Simms led the way with a 5.46 clearance, which set the new meet reocrd in the event, while Andrew Saloga (5.36m), Ashton Barkdull (5.36m), Jake Freidel (5.21m) and Anthony Meacham (5.21m) all filed in right behind him.

Behind Gibbens, T.J. Robinson hit a PR of 3:48.47 in the 1500m, which was good for second place and a new personal best time. Tanner Talley took third with 3:49.71, while Sawyer Schmidt (3:50.44, PR) and Justice Dick (3:53.86) took fourth and fifth, respectively.

Gabby Hoke reached a new career milestone when she cleared 4.13m (13-06 ft.) to claim the women’s pole vault victory. Samantha van Hoecke jumped her season best with a second-place mark of 3.98m, while Kade Joslin hit a new PR with her fourth-place jump of 3.83m.

The throws squad also had quite the representation in both the victory and PR categories, starting off with Oleg Klykov hitting a new PR in the hammer throw with his 66.13m mark, claiming second place overall in the event.

Dimitrios Pavlidis won the men’s discus throw with his 57.35m mark, while Patrick Larrison was right on his heels with a 55.14m throw to hit his season best. Both Jayhawks surpassed the previous meet record in this event. Joseph Kieny also competed in this event and secured fourth place with a new PR of 50.04m.

On the women’s side, Sofia Sluchaninova won the discus by hitting a new personal best of 45.76, while Tori Thomas claimed second place in both discus and shotput, with her shotput mark of 15.97m setting a new personal best as well.

Devin Loudermilk and Rylee Anderson both took the top slots in the high jump, with Loudermilk winning the men’s side at 2.13m and Anderson winning the women’s with a new outdoor PR of 1.86m.

Michael Joseph won the 400m dash with his 46.24, and he was also a part of the men’s 4×4 that took the victory later on in the day. Joseph ran anchor on a team of Ethan Fogle, Grant Lockwood and Jameir Colbert, and together, they would post a time of 3:08.38 to win it all.

Colbert unlocked a new personal best earlier in the day as well, taking second place in the 400m hurdles with his 52.92 in the event.

Up next, the Jayhawks will be hosting the 100th Kansas Relays out at Rock Chalk Park, which starts on Thursday, April 13 and runs through Saturday, April 15.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Tiger Woods extended his streak of consecutive made cuts at the Masters to a record-tying 23 on Saturday when the second round resumed amid cold wind and rain. He was at 3 over for the championship, and he needed some help to slip through on the number from Justin Thomas. A bogey-bogey finish caused Thomas to miss the cut instead. Others who missed the cut included Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau. Fred Couples, at 63 years old, was at 1 over to become the oldest player to make the cut. Bernhard Langer set that mark during the 2020 tournament.

Quinnipiac beats Minnesota 3-2 in OT, wins NCAA hockey title

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Jacob Quillan scored 10 seconds into overtime to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 victory over Minnesota for its first NCAA hockey title. Quinnipiac trailed for more than 50 minutes and took its first lead of the game when Quillan moments into the extra period. The Bobcats won the faceoff to open OT and Zach Metsa flipped a pass to a streaking Sam Lipkin, who fed Quillan for the winning goal. It was the first Frozen Four championship game to go to OT since 2011. John Mittelstadt scored from point-blank range in the first period and Jaxon Nelson gave Minnesota a 2-0 about five minutes into the second. Quinnipiac outshot the Gophers 30-15 and had a 34-23 advantage in faceoffs won.

Bruins beat Devils 2-1, match NHL record with 62nd win

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins tied an NHL record with their 62nd win of the season. Boston got two goals from Pavel Zacha in the first five minutes and held on to beat the New Jersey Devils 2-1. The Bruins have three games left to try to top the record for regular-season wins set by the 1995-96 Red Wings and matched by the 2018-19 Lightning. Linus Ullmark stopped 29 shots for Boston, which won its fifth straight game and its 12th in 13 tries. The Bruins are also on pace to surpass the NHL record of 132 points set by the 1976-77 Canadiens. Jesper Bratt scored and Mackenzie Blackwood made 38 saves for the Devils. New Jersey is one point behind Carolina and two ahead of the Rangers in the race for the Metropolitan Division title.

NBA set for final day, and West race will go to the wire

The NBA will get what it wanted. There will be drama to end the regular season. All 30 teams will play their 82nd game of the season on Sunday. The New Orleans at Minnesota, Utah at the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State at Portland and the Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix games will decide how the Western Conference playoff and play-in bracket will look. There are 16 possible seeding scenarios, based on the outcomes of those four games. And they'll all be starting at 3:30 p.m. Eastern, with no games scheduled to play later. So it's possible that the final shot of the regular season might be the one that fills out the bracket.

NBA opens investigation into Dallas' move to sit players

The NBA has opened an investigation into Dallas' decision to rest several players while the team still had a mathematical chance of making the play-in tournament. The league made the announcement a day after the Mavericks held out Kyrie Irving for the full game, Luka Doncic for most of the game and many other rotation players in what became a loss to the Chicago Bulls. The loss knocked Dallas out of postseason consideration. That outcome could help ensure Dallas has a top-10 draft pick this summer and potentially a chance of winning the draft lottery and selecting French phenom Victor Wembanyama.

Browns' Watson scheduled to give deposition in civil lawsuit

As Deshaun Watson prepares for his second season with Cleveland, his legal troubles in Houston linger. The Browns quarterback is scheduled to give a deposition on Monday in one of the two remaining civil lawsuits filed against him for sexual misconduct. Watson previously settled lawsuits with two dozen women who accused him of being sexually inappropriate during massage therapy sessions while he played for the Texans. Two separate grand juries in Texas declined to indict Watson on criminal charges last year. The NFL suspended Watson for 11 games last season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Swanson's injury a concern as US downs Ireland 2-0

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Salvador Pérez hit a tying, three-run homer in the eighth inning and Nate Eaton scored on a wild pitch in the ninth as the Kansas City Royals rallied past the San Francisco Giants 6-5 on Saturday.

Eaton pinch-ran for Vinnie Pasquantino, who led off the ninth with a double off Giants closer Camilo Doval. Eaton advanced to third on a ground out by Hunter Dozier and sprinted to the plate on a wild pitch by Doval (0-1), barely beating the tag by catcher Blake Sabol with a head-first slide.

With Kansas City trailing 5-1 in the seventh, Franmil Reyes homered off Ross Stripling to cut the lead to 3. Pérez tied the game with a three-run blast off Stripling in the eighth.

The Giants loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, but Royals reliever Taylor Clarke (1-0) struck out Thairo Estrada, Brandon Crawford and Sabol to keep the game tied.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first save with the Royals.

Bobby Witt Jr. also homered for Kansas City, which clinched its first series victory of the season. The Royals improved to 2-2 under bench coach Paul Hoover, who has served as interim manager while Matt Quatraro has been away from the team with COVID-19.

LaMonte Wade Jr. homered into McCovey Cove for the Giants’ 98th Splash Hit in Oracle Park history.

Kansas won its two matches against Baylor by a total of 7 up compared to Baylor being 4 up in its two victories, advancing KU to the Big 12 Match Play Championship. Texas edged TCU, 3-2-0, in its semifinal match setting up Sunday’s championship battle. &nbsp; Kansas entered Saturday’s final round of pool play in eighth place out of the nine Big 12 teams with KU having scored nine points in four matches on Friday. Then on Saturday morning, the Jayhawks dominated No. 8 seed Oklahoma 5-0-0 and defeated No. 9 seed Kansas State, 3-2-0. &nbsp; Kansas’ eight points scored Saturday morning moved the Jayhawks up to the No. 1 seed heading into bracket play with 17.0 total points which was just ahead of TCU and Texas’ 16.5 points. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –&nbsp;Kansas pushed its winning streak to seven straight games on Saturday and secured its first road series win over a ranked opponent since 2017 with a 10-7 comeback victory over No. 19 West Virginia at Monongalia County Ballpark.

The Jayhawks erased an early 3-0 deficit and posted a five-run fifth inning to top the Mountaineers for the second straight game after a 5-3 win in the opener Friday night. The series win is the first over a ranked opponent for the Jayhawks since sweeping No. 20 St. John’s in 2018 and the first on the road since taking two of three against No. 19 Oklahoma in Norman in 2017. Coach Dan Fitzgerald’s squad has now won seven straight to climb back over .500 and sit at 15-14 and 5-3 in the Big 12 Conference.

West Virginia (22-9, 2-3 Big 12) took an early lead by capitalizing on an opportunity in the first inning. After a single and double set up runners on second and third, Caleb McNeely hit a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead. WVU added two more runs in the second inning on a two-run homer by Logan Sauve to extend the lead to 3-0.
