The average had dropped in each of the previous four seasons before 2022, sparking player anger that was expressed by the union during a 99-day lockout that ended last March.

PARIS (AP) — World Cup winner Lionel Messi has won FIFA’s Best Men’s Player award for 2022. Spain’s Alexia Putellas won FIFA’s Best Women’s Player award for the second straight time. Messi won the voting over Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema. Putellas won the women's voting over Alex Morgan of the United States and England’s Beth Mead. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has been voted FIFA men’s coach of the year after leading his team to the World Cup title in December. The women’s coach award went to Sarina Wiegman after she led England to the title at the Women’s European Championship.

Kansas senior center Taiyanna Jackson has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2023 Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year award. The semifinalists for the award were announced on Monday by the Naismith Awards.

The award, which has been presented since 2018, goes to the most outstanding women’s defensive basketball player who achieves tremendous on-court success. Jackson was one of 15 players named to the Naismith Watch List on Jan. 24. She is joined on the semifinalist list by Brea Beal (South Carolina), Aliyah Boston (South Carolina), Cameron Brink (Stanford), Brooke Flowers (St. Louis), Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech), Rayah Marshall (USC), Aneesah Morrow (DePaul), Angel Reese (LSU) and Celeste Taylor (Duke). The four finalists for the award will be announced on March 13.

Jackson is among the most-improved players in college basketball and she’s excelling at both ends of the floor this season. She leads the Big 12 and ranks sixth in the country with 82 blocked shots, an average of 3.0 per game, while ranking third in the nation in field goal percentage (68.1) and fifth in rebounds per game (12.6). Jackson recorded her league-leading 18th double-double on Sunday, with 12 points and a career-high-tying 21 rebounds in KU’s 66-57 victory over Oklahoma State. She also had five blocked shots against OSU, her fourth-straight game with four or more blocks.

Jackson is one of five players from a power five conference averaging a double-double this season, with current marks of 15.4 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. She is on pace to become the first Jayhawk to average a double-double for an entire season since Traci Claxton in 1982. Her 18 double-doubles ranks sixth in Division I women’s basketball and tied for seventh in school history for a single season. After setting a school record with 95 blocked shots last season, Jackson is again climbing the single-season list with 82 blocks this season, which ranks fifth in KU history.

Entering 2022-23, Jackson was Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and she is a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week this season. Last year, she became the first-ever KU player selected to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team and led the way as the Jayhawks set a new single-season school record with 5.7 blocks per game. Earlier this season, Jackson was also listed as one of the Top 10 candidates for the 2023 Lisa Leslie Award, which recognizes the top center in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

LAWRENCE, Kan. –&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;women’s basketball&nbsp;finished off a season-sweep of Oklahoma State on Sunday&nbsp;afternoon, defeating the Cowgirls 66-57 at Allen Fieldhouse. The victory&nbsp;was a milestone for Kansas Coach Brandon Schneider, who picks up his 500th career win as a collegiate head coach.

Kansas improved&nbsp;to 17-10 on the year and 7-9 in Big 12 with the win&nbsp;and ended&nbsp;OSU’s six-game win streak&nbsp;as&nbsp;&nbsp;the Cowgirls&nbsp;fell&nbsp;to 20-8 (10-6 Big 12).&nbsp;

“There’s a lot of folks out there who have taught me a lot and I’ve been fortunate to coach some incredible players who took a lot of pride in representing the three universities that we have been blessed to be a part of,” Schneider said of the milestone. “We had to get this win today and our team knows that we have got to continue to add to our resume. The work’s not over.”

The Jayhawks closed the game out by continuing to limit OSU’s offensive production and KU led by double figures until the Cowgirls scored the final five points of the game to make the final margin nine.&nbsp;

Kansas was dominant in the post, outscoring OSU 48-30 in the paint while outrebounding the Cowgirls 44-to-36. The Jayhawks shot 42.6% (29-of-68) from the field, while limiting OSU to 37.1% (23-of-62) shooting. KU turned 13 Oklahoma State turnovers into eight points and scored 17 second-chance points and 11 points on the fast break.

(AP) — Damian Lillard set franchise and career highs with 71 points which tied for the most in the NBA this season and 13 3-pointers and the Portland Trail Blazers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 131-114 victory over the Houston Rockets. Lillard tied Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell for the most points in a game this season after Mitchell also scored 71 in a win over Chicago on Jan. 2. Lillard broke his own franchise mark of 61 points, which he’d done twice, on a 3-pointer with 4:42 left that also broke his career record for 3s in a game with 11. Lillard’s 13 3-pointers were one shy of the NBA record set by Golden State’s Klay Thompson in 2018.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jrue Holiday scored 33 points, Brook Lopez made a tiebreaking layup with 24.8 seconds left and the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Phoenix Suns 104-101 for their 14th consecutive victory. The nationally televised game Sunday didn’t include Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo or Phoenix’s Kevin Durant. Antetokounmpo was out with a bruised right quadriceps after leaving in the first quarter of the Bucks’ 128-99 victory over the Miami Heat on Friday. Durant has yet to appear in a game for the Suns and hasn’t played since Jan. 8 because of a sprained right medial collateral ligament.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Manny Machado continues to be a very rich man. He also is still a very good hitter. Machado ripped an RBI double on the same day he agreed to a new $350 million, 11-year contract that will keep him with the San Diego Padres through 2033, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Machado must pass a physical before the deal is finalized. Machado got a big cheer from Padres fans on a chilly afternoon in Arizona before a spring training game against the Diamondbacks.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Chris Kirk waited nearly eight years to win a PGA Tour event again. Waiting one more hole on Sunday was no problem. Kirk stuck his approach to the par-5 18th to tap-in range, and his birdie on the first hole of a playoff lifted him past Eric Cole for the victory at the Honda Classic on Sunday. Cole had a chance, playing his third shot from the sand to just outside of 10 feet for a birdie that would have extended the playoff. But it lipped out, and Kirk nudged his ball in for his fifth career win.

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) — Kyle Busch sent Fontana off in style. The veteran stormed up from the back after an early penalty and earned his first victory for Richard Childress Racing while winning on this Southern California track for the fifth time. Busch held off Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain in NASCAR’s final race on the gloriously weathered asphalt at Auto Club Speedway, which will soon be demolished to make room for a half-mile track. Busch drove his Chevrolet to victory in only his second race with RCR, which scooped him up in December after his 15-year tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing ended.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — YouTube star Jake Paul has suffered the first defeat of his professional boxing career. He lost a split decision Sunday night to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia. Paul knocked down the unbeaten Fury with a short left hand early in the final round of their cruiserweight bout, but the younger half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury controlled long stretches of the eight-round meeting at Diriyah Arena. Two judges scored the bout 76-73 for Fury, while the third favored Paul, 75-74. The 23-year-old Fury is the first true professional boxer fought by Paul.

🏀 KJCCC Basketball Standings, Scores and Schedule

WICHITA, Kan. –&nbsp;A pair of 20-point, 10-rebound double-doubles from&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/jane-asinde/7152">Jane Asinde</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/curtessia-dean/7199">Curtessia Dean</a>&nbsp;powered Wichita State to a 79-67 win over Temple Saturday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena. Wichita State (16-12, 6-9) closed out its regular season home schedule with a win on Senior Day for Dean and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/trajata-colbert/7155">Trajata Colbert</a>. Dean saved her best game for Senior Day, as she poured in a career-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with 10 rebounds. Asinde logged her 11th double-double behind 22 points and 10 boards. She also added three assists and three steals. <a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/trajata-colbert/7155">Trajata Colbert</a>&nbsp;chipped in 13 points and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/shamaryah-duncan/7156">Shamaryah Duncan</a>&nbsp;added 11 to round out the double figure scorers. Wichita State shot 51 percent from the floor, and was nearly perfect from the free throw line, going 17-for-18. Temple shot 45 percent despite going 5-for-20 from beyond the arc. Wichita State built a 20-11 lead after 10 minutes behind 13 combined points from Dean and Asinde. The Shockers' defense forced Temple into difficult shots, as the Owls finished the quarter just 5-of-16 from the floor. The Shockers pushed the margin to 11 on the first possession of the second quarter, but Temple would fight back to tie the game at 26 behind a trio of three-pointers. A quick 7-0 spurt for the Shockers made it 33-26 only to see Temple close the half on its own 8-0 run to grab the lead, 34-33. The Owls outscored the Shockers 23-13 in the second period. Temple's slow start on the offensive end didn't last long. The Owls shot 55.6 percent from the field in the second quarter and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to steal the lead before halftime. MORGANTOWN, West Virginia –&nbsp;K-State rallied from a 19-point deficit in the first half to square the game in the fourth quarter, but West Virginia used a late run to hold off the Wildcats at&nbsp; WVU Coliseum on Saturday, 67-58.

K-State (16-13, 5-11 Big 12) was led by sophomore guard Serena Sundell with 21 points, four assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. This was Sundell’s second 20-point game of the week, as she scored 24 against Kansas on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jaelyn Glenn added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, while freshman Eliza Maupin came off the bench to chip in with 11 points and nine rebounds in a career-high 26 minutes.&nbsp;

West Virginia (17-10, 8-8) was paced by senior Madisen Smith with 20 points and six rebounds.

- K-State was done in by nine turnovers in the first quarter, as West Virginia built a 23-9 lead at the end of the opening frame. The Mountaineers ended the quarter on a 13-0 run.

K-State (22-7, 10-6 Big 12) extended its winning streak to 3 games, while snapping a 5-game road losing streak in Big 12 play. It was the first road win since a 97-95 overtime win at Baylor on Jan. 7. The victory also gave the Wildcats’ double-digit wins in league play for the 10th time in the Big 12 era and the first time since 2018-19.&nbsp;

Trailing 60-59 with 6:23 remaining, K-State took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Johnson which was followed 50 seconds later by another triple from Massoud that gave the Wildcats a 65-60 lead with just over 5 minutes to play. After the Cowboys closed to within 65-63 with 2:44 remaining, the Wildcats got key plays down the stretch from their backcourt, including 4 free throws from senior&nbsp;Markquis Nowell, a layup from senior&nbsp;Desi Sills&nbsp;and 2 free throws from sophomore&nbsp;Cam Carter.&nbsp;

Nowell led three Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 22 points on 5-of-12 field goals, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range, and 9-of-10 free throws, while adding a game-high 8 assists and 4 steals and a team-high 5 rebounds in nearly 39 minutes. Johnson scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, while senior&nbsp;Desi Sills&nbsp;posted 10 points in his third consecutive start.

For the third straight game, K-State had to rally from a halftime deficit, as Oklahoma State (16-13, 7-9 Big 12) used an 11-0 run to take as much as a 6-point lead in the first half. Sills was able to pull the Wildcats to within 35-33 at the break on a pair of free throws and a layup and steal right before the buzzer.&nbsp;

K-State used a 7-0 run in the first 5 minutes of the second half to take a 40-39 lead, but OSU responded with its own 7-0 run to take its largest lead at 53-45 with just over 12 minutes to play. A key moment in the game came minutes later after the Wildcats closed the gap to 53-49, as head coach&nbsp;Jerome Tang&nbsp;was whistled for a technical with 10:49 remaining, allowing the Cowboys to take a 55-49 lead.&nbsp;

The technical seemed to spark K-State, as the Wildcats rattled off 6 straight points capped by a 3-pointer from Carter to tie the game at 55-all with 9:17 remaining. The teams traded the lead over the next few possessions before the pivotal stretch of 3-pointers from Johnson and Massoud.

Overall, K-State outscored OSU, 24-13, in the final 10:49 after the Tang technical.

The Wildcats hit on 49 percent (24-of-49) of their field goals, including 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from 3-point range, while connecting on 85 percent (17-of-20) from the free throw line. In the second half, the team shot 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field, including 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from 3, and made 9 of 10 free throws.

Four Cowboys scored in double figures led by junior&nbsp;Kalib Boone, who had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Seniors&nbsp;Caleb Asberry&nbsp;and&nbsp;John-Michael Wright&nbsp;scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, while junior&nbsp;Bryce Thompson&nbsp;added 11 points. Senior&nbsp;Woody Newton&nbsp;led all players with 7 rebounds to go with 6 points.

The win helped K-State sweep the season series with OSU for the first time since 2019, as the Wildcats now lead the all-time series, 85-58.

“I’m truly blessed to be around this team. They are just so much fun to be around. I thought that everyone who watched today&nbsp;saw their heart out there. They just didn't quit. We told them there was going to be adversity and you had to look adversity in the face and smile, and then slap the crap out of it. And, and that was our quote. And they did. I was so proud of them. And it's just like life, it just throws things at you that you don't expect. You guys don’t know what's going on behind the scenes, you don't know who's sick, you don't know whose family member passed away. You don't you don't know any of those things. And you just watch them on the floor and make a judgment about who played well or didn't play well, and for all the stuff that they face, to be able to continually come out here and give that kind of effort and believe in each other. And we call it crazy faith, man to have that kind of crazy faith in each other. And in the staff. I'm just blessed beyond words. And secondly, I'd just like to thank our fans, there was a timeout there where our fans were so loud that they had to crank the music up. Otherwise, you'd have heard K-S-U throughout the arena. And so that was so cool. I'm super blessed. This is a dream come true. To be doing what I'm doing. The people I'm doing it with and couldn't be more thankful.”

On having someone like Markquis Nowell at the end of games to make free throws…

“We are extremely fortunate to have Markquis. I mean he played nearly 40 minutes. I think he missed a minute and a half of game time, and we were trying to figure out a way to get him rest. But yeah, we're fortunate to have him but we also have a good free throw shooter in Ish (Massoud) who shoot like 95 percent from the line, and Cam Carter makes big free throws. That's just what he does.”&nbsp;

“They (the officials) told me that I was just too demonstrative. That was it. I didn’t say anything. I made sure to tell the guys on the radio (in postgame), so my mom heard that I didn’t say anything (bad). But I was demonstrative. I was demonstrative on purpose. They felt like, there was some ticky-tac calls that went their way that resulted in and-ones and there were some physical plays that didn't go our way. That didn't result in what I wanted. And then from that point on, we outscored them 24-13. And so, I believe that it inspired our guys to play a little bit harder to fight a little harder. And I felt like it impacted the way the refs called the game.”

On the guys battling through adversity…&nbsp;

“I think the brotherhood, the fact that they get to be with each other and support each other and have a chance to be on the floor and not think about what's going on and just play the game of basketball, that, that it's real good. I'm so proud of my staff, for Anne (Weese) and Deja (James), who are our mental health and wellness coaches that pour into our guys and are there for them. And in all kinds of situations, we're blessed to be able to provide that kind of service to our players and our staff and our team takes advantage of it. And so just constantly trying to make sure our guys are doing well away from basketball, because that's more important to me than whether they're putting the ball in the hole.”

On what you have done differently during the 3-game winning streak…

“I think when we lost four of five games, three of those were on the road. And I think there was a back-to-back road trip in there as well. It’s hard to win on the road in this league. I didn’t think that I did a very good job of resting our guys. And we could see that we were tired. And so, we've approached what we do differently. The last few games and I felt like our guys have had their legs and better energy, which has given us the opportunity to be in a position to win some of these close games.”

On how satisfying it is to win on the road…

“Anytime you win, it is satisfying. And I know that I’m fired up because we’re going to Marble Slab for ice cream because you get dessert for road wins. So, we are going to go enjoy this one.”

K-State concludes its home season on Wednesday, as the Wildcats welcome Oklahoma (14-15, 4-12 Big 12) at 7 p.m., CT on Big 12 Now. The Sooners won the first meeting, 79-65, at home on Feb. 14.

After the Cowboys closed to within 65-63 with 2:44 remaining, the Wildcats got key plays down the stretch from their backcourt, including 4 free throws from senior&nbsp;Markquis Nowell, a layup from senior&nbsp;Desi Sills&nbsp;and 2 free throws from sophomore&nbsp;Cam Carter.&nbsp;Nowell led three Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 22 points on 5-of-12 field goals, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range, and 9-of-10 free throws, while adding a game-high 8 assists and 4 steals and a team-high 5 rebounds in nearly 39 minutes. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) –&nbsp;Five Jayhawks scored in double-figures including a team-high 17 points from Dajuan Harris Jr., as No. 3 Kansas held off West Virginia, 76-74, inside Allen Fieldhouse Saturday.

In a game that came down to the final minute, Kansas’ defense kept West Virginia from attempting a shot in the final 20 seconds, allowing the Jayhawks to come away with the 76-74 victory.

Kansas improves to 24-5 (12-4 Big 12) this season, gaining sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference with Texas (22-7, 11-5) losing to Baylor on Saturday, 81-72.

Harris led Kansas with 7-of-9 shooting from the field and had six assists and a career-high six steals. Harris was joined in double-figures by Gradey Dick (16), Kevin McCullar, Jr. (16), KJ Adams, Jr (13) and Jalen Wilson (11).

Dick’s 16 points came on 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, as all his points from the field came from three-point range. With his five three-pointers, he moved into fourth place on KU’s freshman list for three-pointers with 71, passing Xavier Henry (2009-10).

West Virginia (16-13, 5-11) led 44-43 early in the second half, but Kansas went on a 7-0 run which featured a Harris layup, assist and then a 3-pointer by&nbsp;Dick&nbsp;to give the Jayhawks a six-point lead.

Erik Stevenson&nbsp;led West Virginia with 23 points.&nbsp;Tre Mitchell&nbsp;scored 20,&nbsp;Kedrian Johnson&nbsp;scored 15 and Emmitt Mathews Jr. had 13.

The Jayhawks return home on Tuesday, Feb. 28 to host Texas Tech for Senior Day. Kansas will then close out its regular season at No. 8 Texas on March 4.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jayson Tatum made the winning 3-pointer for Boston with 1.3 seconds left to lead the Boston Celtics to a 110-107 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Joel Embiid buried his desperation heave but it was just after time expired and did not count. Tatum finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Jaylen Brown scored 26 points and Derrick White had 18 for the Celtics. Embiid finished with 41 points and 12 rebounds. James Harden scored 21 points and Tobias Harris had 16.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Desmond Cambridge Jr. hit a 60-foot shot at the buzzer and Arizona State rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat No. 7 Arizona 89-88. The Sun Devils went up 86-85 on Warren Washington's layup with just a minute left, but Pelle Larsson put Arizona back up on a layup with 29 seconds left. Arizona State's DJ Horne missed a jumper with 4 seconds left and the Sun Devils had a final shot after Oumar Ballo hit 1 of 2 free throws. Cambridge left the fans at McKale Center stunned, launching a shot from beyond half court that sent his teammates charging onto the floor in celebration.

Miller delivered his second straight huge game for the Crimson Tide since police alleged in testimony that Miller brought a gun to former teammate Darius Miles, who is charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting. No. 1 Houston tops East Carolina to claim outright AAC title

GREENVILLE. N.C. (AP) — Marcus Sasser scored 22 points to help top-ranked Houston beat East Carolina 76-57 and clinching outright possession of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title. Tramon Mark added 20 points for the Cougars. J'Wan Roberts had 17 points and 12 rebounds to help Houston win its ninth straight game. Sasser left the game briefly in the first half after rolling his right ankle. Ezra Ausar had 15 points to lead East Carolina. The Pirates made just 3 of 25 shots before halftime in their first visit from a No. 1-ranked team.

Westbrook goes from Lakers' bench to being Clippers' starter

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Russell Westbrook not only switched locker rooms at Crypto.com Arena. He went from being on the bench to a return to the starting lineup. Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue didn't waste much time seeing how well Westbrook would mesh with his new team. The eight-time All-Star signed after he cleared waivers on Wednesday and was the starting point guard for Friday night's game against the Sacramento Kings. Westbrook's Clippers debut was overshadowed in what ended up being the second-highest-scoring game in NBA history. He had 17 points, 14 assists and five rebounds in 39 minutes during the Clippers' 176-175 loss in double overtime.

Kirk battles, takes 2-shot lead into final round at Honda

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Chris Kirk's last win on the PGA Tour was nearly eight years ago. He has put himself in a position to change that at the Honda Classic. Kirk battled his way to a 4-under round of 66 on Saturday, putting him at 13-under 197 for the week and giving him a two-shot lead over Eric Cole (66) through three rounds at PGA National. His last win on tour was at Colonial in 2015 — 180 tournaments ago. He's a four-time winner on tour, played in the Presidents Cup in 2015, and has been waiting to hoist a trophy again since.

Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark scores into empty net

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Goaltender Linus Ullmark scored into an empty net in the final minute and the NHL-leading Boston Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on Saturday might for their sixth straight victory. Ullmark made a save and fired a high wrist shot the length of the ice to become the 13th goalie in NHL history to score a goal. Defenseman Hampus Lindholm and Brad Marchand had first-period goals for the Bruins, and Ullmark made 26 saves. Brock Boeser scored for Vancouver.

American Lilia Vu storms to maiden LPGA title in Thailand

PATTAYA, Thailand (AP) — American Lilia Vu has claimed her maiden LPGA crown with a one-shot victory over home favorite Natthakritta Vongtaveelap at the LPGA Thailand. Trailing the local rookie by six strokes at the start of the day, 25-year-old Vu unleashed eight impressive birdies, including five straight from the eighth hole to end her campaign with an immaculate round of 8-under 64 for a 22-under 266 total at Siam Country Club Old Course. Vu became the third American to triumph in the event after Lexi Thompson in 2016 and Jessica Korda in 2018.

Sofia Goggia wins World Cup downhill, closes on season title

CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (AP) — Sofia Goggia has raced toward another World Cup downhill title with a fifth win in her dominating season. Goggia raced through lightly falling snow at Crans-Montana in the Swiss Alps to finish 0.15 seconds ahead of Federica Brignone. Brignone started after Goggia when snow had stopped falling and sunshine broke through. Laura Gauche wearing the No. 26 bib then placed a career-best third 0.41 seconds back. Goggia's fifth win in seven World Cup downhills extended her points lead over Ilka Štuhec. Goggia needs just one top-10 finish in the last two downhills to win a fourth career title.

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team’s late rally wasn’t enough as Rose State College scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Blue Dragons 9-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Dragons trailed 4-2 and 6-3 and tied the game at 6-all with a three-run top of the eighth. But the Raiders took advantage of three walks and a balk in the bottom of the eight to claim the series 2-1.

The Blue Dragons are now 7-5 to start the season. Hutchinson travels to Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Tuesday in a single nine-inning game. Rose State is 12-4.

The Blue Dragons out-hit Rose State 12-10 in the third game of the series.

Sophomore right-fielder Will Edmunson extended his hitting streak to 12 games to start the season by going 2 for 4 with a double, run scored and an RBI. He doubled home a run in the top of the first to give the Dragons an early 1-0 lead.

Freshman shortstop Cooper Wesslund was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored.

Sophomore Braedyn Sommer and Christian Powell both went 2 for 4. Powell doubled home a run in the Dragon eighth inning.

Rose State first baseman Luke Cummins was 4 for 4 with an RBI double, two-run triple and five RBIs.

Six Blue Dragon pitchers walked a combined seven Rose State batters. Cole Toreau (0-3) was the losing pitcher with 1 1-3 innings in relief.

Trailing 6-3 entering the eighth inning, Ryan Henderson and Sommer led off the inning with singles and moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. Jackson Young’s groundout scored Henderson to make it 6-4. Sommer scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-5. After Jack Gardner walked and Powell doubled, Blake Bradford’s groundout scored Gardner tied the game at 6-6.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs promoted Matt Nagy to offensive coordinator to replace the departed Eric Bieniemy on Friday, giving him the job he held before departing Andy Reid's staff for an opportunity as the head coach in Chicago.

Nagy spent two seasons directing the Chiefs' offense with Alex Smith at quarterback. He then spent four seasons with the Bears, going 34-31 in the regular season and winning the NFC North in 2018, before he was fired after a 6-11 season in 2021. He returned to the Chiefs as their quarterbacks coach.
