Wichita State (25-21, 16-11) clinched the No. 4 seed in next week's American Athletic Conference Championship and ran its win streak to 17 in a row over Memphis. The sweep marked Wichita State's third series sweep of the season.

The no-hitter for Barber is the first of her collegiate career and 21st in program history. In 5.0 innings, she struck out nine and walked four, while earning her ninth win.

<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/cc-wong/8967">CC Wong</a>&nbsp;had four of Wichita State's 13 hits on the day, including the walk-off RBI double that scored&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/madyson-espinosa/7562">Madyson Espinosa</a>. Her four hits tied a career high.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/sami-hood/7565">Sami Hood</a>broke out of a slump with a pair of doubles.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/bailey-urban/7572">Bailey Urban</a>&nbsp;singled&nbsp;twice to go with an RBI.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/jessica-garcia/7563">Jessica Garcia</a>&nbsp;drove in a run behind two singles.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/lainee-brown/7559">Lainee Brown</a>&nbsp;delivered a Senior Day three-run home run and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/krystin-nelson/7568">Krystin Nelson</a>&nbsp;brought two home on a single.

After two scoreless innings, Wichita State finally broke through in the bottom of the third on Urban's RBI infield single. Two batters later, Brown smacked a three-run homer off the scoreboard in left to make it 4-0.

Wichita State put the finishing touches on the weekend behind a four-run bottom of the fifth. Back-to-back singles from Garcia and Nelson upped the lead to 7-0 and then Wong sent a full count pitch off the wall in right-center, scoring Espinosa from second to walk off the Tigers.

Wichita State plays host to the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship, May 8-11 at Wilkins Stadium.

🥎  Barber throws no-hitter, Shockers run- rule Memphis 

IOLA –&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/cymbalista_colin_rw61">Colin Cymbalista</a>&nbsp;smacked two solo home runs to ignite the Hutchinson's Community College baseball team from its early offensive slumber against the Allen Red Devils in the 2024 regular-season finale at Red Devil Field.

Trailing by two runs early, the Blue Dragons erupted for 11 runs and 10 hits in their final six at-bats as No. 17 Hutchinson defeated the Red Devils 11-3.

The Jayhawk West champion Blue Dragons close the regular season with a 44-11 record. Hutchinson will open the 2024 Region VI Tournament at Hobart-Detter Field with a best-of-3 opening-round series vs. either Labette or Highland next Thursday. The winner of that series advances to Eck Stadium in Wichita for the eight-team, double-elimination portion of the regional/district tournament.

Hutchinson's 44 wins ties the 2006-2019 teams for the fourth-most wins in a single season in Blue Dragon history.

With six more stolen bases on Saturday, the 2024 Blue Dragons extended their season record to 195 stolen bases. With four more hit-by-pitches against Allen, the Dragons extended that season record to 167 in the first 55 games of the season. Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/babin_kael_g1ow">Kael Babin</a>&nbsp;also stole four bases on Saturday, upping his single-season individual stolen base record to 55.

Trailing 2-0 and without a hit through the first three innings of Saturday's game, Cymbalista led off the fourth inning and hit a solo home run over the left-field wall to get the Blue Dragons on the board. Cymbalista, who was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, homered again to lead off the seventh. The Blue Dragon sophomore catcher also threw out his 10th baserunner of the season with a pickoff at second base to end the Allen fifth inning.

Griffin went 3 for 5 with a double and two runs scored to help Hutchinson out-hit Allen 10-8. Cymbalista's two homers was the only other multi-hit game for the Blue Dragons on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons used seven pitchers on Saturday.

⚾ Blue Dragons win at Allen; finish regular season with 44 wins

PRATT – Powers by one individual regional championship, another school record and four top-three event finishes on Saturday, the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team made history at the 2024 Region VI Outdoor Championships.

A combined 10 points from&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2023-24/bios/larson_serenity_tezp">Serenity Larson</a>&nbsp;and Laura Avila in the 5,000 meters on Saturday secured the best regional finish for the Blue Dragon win in team history.

The Blue Dragons scored 88.5 points over the weekend to finish third overall in the Region 6 Championships. The Blue Dragons also finished third in the Jayhawk West standings, amassing 138 points. Head coach Robert Spies was named the Jayhawk West Coach of the Year.

The Blue Dragons haven't finished higher than fifth since 2009 when then were fifth in the region and third in the Jayhawk West.

Barton won the women's team title with 168 points. Cloud County was second with 160 points.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2023-24/bios/james_kaylee_rvey">Kaylee James</a>&nbsp;and freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2023-24/bios/hawkins_brooke_1fkd">Brooke Hawkins</a>&nbsp;were the big scorers for the Dragons in Saturday's events. Hawkins scored 16 points on Saturday and James accounted for 13.75 points.

Hawkins won the Region 6 triple jump with a career-best jump of 39 feet, 3 inches on Saturday. That's the fourth-best outdoor triple jump in team history. Hawkins also finished third in the high jump after clearing 5-4 1/4.

James became the second Blue Dragon this weekend to break a school record – she is the fourth record breaker in the outdoor season and eighth combining indoor and outdoor – with a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 56.91 seconds.

The Blue Dragon sophomore also posted her career-best time in the 100-meter hurdles with a Region 6 runner-up finish in a time of 13.88 seconds. James improved her second-overall fastest time in the event in Blue Dragon history.

Larson completed a 14-points regional tournament with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters. She posted a time of 18:52.83. Avila was fifth in the event with a time of 19:29.25, the 10th-fastest time in outdoor program history.

The Blue Dragons scored points in nine different events on Saturday with multiple athletes scoring pots in four events.

👟 Blue Dragon women take 3rd at Region VI championships

PRATT – The Hutchinson Community College men's track and field team had its best Region VI Outdoor performance since 2013 when the Blue Dragons finished in third place on Saturday at Pratt's Green Athletic Complex.

The Blue Dragons amassed 107.5 points to post its best regional team finish since winning the 2013 team championship. Cloud County won the men's team title with 131 points. Barton was second with 127 points. The Blue Dragons also finished third in the Jayhawk West standings with 165 points.

Hutchinson head coach Robert Spies was named the Jayhawk West Coach of the Year.

Overall, the Blue Dragons scored points in 16 of 22 events, including 12 events on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons earned two Region 6 individual championships and three Jayhawk West championships this weekend.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/johnson_chris_pj8c">Chris Johnson</a>, the NJCAA's No. 1 pole vaulter, won the Region VI crown on Saturday clearing 15 feet 7 3/4.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/thid_david_jvzs">David Thid</a>&nbsp;won the 400-meter hurdle championship with a time of 51.39 seconds.

Sophomore&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/seamster_ezekiel_gysy">Ezekiel Seamster</a>&nbsp;won the Jayhawk West 200 meters with a career-best time of 20.79 seconds. That time was third in the region and is now No. 2 in Blue Dragon outdoor history.

The Blue Dragons had three regional runner-up and six other overall top-three finishes on Saturday.

Posting the 10th-fastest time in Blue Dragon history, Darrah made up three places to move into second over the final two laps of the race.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/roland_ty-rique_n9sc">Ty'Rique Roland</a>&nbsp;was the Region 6 runner-up in the high jump at 6-7 1/2.

The Blue Dragons secured third place in the team standings with a combined 14 points in the 5,000 meters from runner-up&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/kiprotich_titus_r5zd">Titus Kiprotich</a>&nbsp;(14:52.71) and third-place finish from&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/mangelson_farrin_odwt">Farrin Mangelson</a>&nbsp;(15:20.57).

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2023-24/bios/legrand_leo_j8dp">Leo LeGrand</a>&nbsp;placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.27.

DODGE CITY – Held to five hits or less in a game for just the third time this season, the second-seeded Hutchinson Community College softball team fell to the losers' bracket of the 2024 Region VI Tournament on Saturday at Legends Park.

Top-seeded Butler scored all five runs with two out and defeated Hutchinson 5-0 in the winners' bracket final on Saturday.

Hutchinson (43-10) will now play Barton in the loser's bracket final at Noon on Sunday for the right to play Butler in Sunday's 2 p.m. championship game. The if necessary game would be at Noon on Monday.

SPRINGDALE, Ark.—The Wichita Wind Surge staved off a seven-run comeback to win 8-7 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Both teams scored all of their runs in unanswered stretches throughout the night.

The Wind Surge put up runs in each of the first three innings.&nbsp;Kala’i Rosario&nbsp;started the scoring with an RBI double to left field to score&nbsp;Emmanuel Rodriguez&nbsp;from third in the top of the first.

Jeferson Morales&nbsp;stepped to the plate with the bases loaded an inning later. The catcher cleared the bases by lacing a double to the wall in right field.&nbsp;Kyler Fedko,&nbsp;Jorel Ortega, and&nbsp;Alerick Soularie&nbsp;came across with a 4-0 Wind Surge advantage.

Carson McCusker&nbsp;scurried home on a wild pitch in the top of the third. Ortega notched another tally on a sacrifice fly to center to give&nbsp;Jake Rucker&nbsp;enough time to tag up. Ortega and McCusker would later work RBI hits in the fifth and eighth innings to propel Wichita to an 8-0 lead.

DENVER (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored a playoff career-high 43 points, Naz Reid had 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets 106-99 in Game 1 of the second-round series Saturday night. Edwards was unstoppable in the first half, scoring 25 points, and Reid took over in the fourth quarter. Game 2 is Monday night in Denver. BOSTON (AP) — Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery wanted to do something different with his team heading into a first-round Game 7 matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Canelo Alvarez held off a feisty challenger Saturday night, proving to be the stronger and more effective boxer to retain his undisputed super middleweight championship, winning by unanimous decision to hand Jaime Munguia his first loss. Tim Cheatham scored the fight 117-110, David Sutherland had it 116-111 and Steve Weisfeld scored the fight 115-112. Alvarez is 61-2-2. He closed as a minus-380 at BetMGM. Alvarez overcame a somewhat slow start to dominate the challenger. Munguia is 43-1.

The German teams showed in the first legs of the semifinals that they could yet block a Madrid vs. Mbappé showdown at Wembley Stadium. That has felt like an ideal finale with Mbappé widely expected to move to the Spanish giant when he leaves PSG as a free agent at the end of the season. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Nathaniel Lowe had four hits and two RBIs, and the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals 15-4 on Saturday night.

Lowe went 4 for 6 one night after going hitless in four at bats in Texas' 7-1 loss. It was his first four-hit game since last July 14.

“I guess it was just my turn in the grand pendulum of the swing of baseball," Lowe said. “It was great to have so many guys contribute. We got smoked last night, so it was good to come back tonight.”

Adolis García, Evan Carter and Travis Jankowski also drove in two runs each. Carter scored on a wild pitch after a two-run triple in the third inning. Garcia extended his hitting streak to six games, and Carter had two hits to extend his hit streak to five games.

The Rangers totaled a season-high 17 hits and set a season-high in runs against the team entering the game with the highest run differential in the majors.

Texas had three three-run innings and a five-run ninth to hand Kansas City its worst loss of the season. Two-runs scored on a wild pitch by Colin Selby and a throwing error to third base on the same play to cap a three-run seventh. Joe Smith, Jankowski, Marcus Semien, Leody Taveras and Ezequiel Duran had RBIs in the ninth.

“It was good to see everyone do something to help in the cause," Texas manager Bruce Bochy said. ”We got shut down the night before the guys came out and put together great at-bats it is good for their confidence. ... Everyone did something tonight."

Dane Dunning pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and four hits. Dunning had limited the Royals to just one hit through the first four innings.

Josh Sborz (1-0) pitched one inning of relief to get the win.

Michael Wacha (1-4) pitched a season-low 3 2/3 innings, allowing a season-high seven runs and nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

“Obviously looked like some missed locations tonight," Royals Manager Matt Quatraro said. "You have to tip your cap to them as well.”

Hunter Renfroe put the Royals on the board with a two-run single to left field with two outs in the fifth. Bobby Witt Jr. recorded his 11th stolen base of the season, which leads the American League.

Vinnie Pasquantino and Garrett Hampson each drove in a run, and Michael Massey had three hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

Rangers: Wyatt Langford exited the game in the fifth inning with right hamstring tightness. Langford was 0 for 3.

Royals: RHP Alec Marsh (right elbow contusion) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on May 5. The Royals put Marsh on the 15-day injured list on April 25, making him eligible to return on May 10.

Jon Gray (1-1, 2.48 ERA) will start the series finale for Texas. Daniel Lynch IV (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his season debut for Kansas City.

&nbsp; SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Wichita State got a complete game from&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/caden-favors/7628">Caden Favors</a>&nbsp;in game one and a dramatic late inning rally in game two to sweep at doubleheader from UTSA, besting the Roadrunners by scores of 11-2 and 8-4 on Saturday at Roadrunner Field. It is the first time this season an opponent has handed UTSA an AAC home series loss.

The Shockers rolled to a comfortable win behind Favors (7-4), who tossed his second complete game of the season after working through some first inning struggles. The southpaw allowed hits to the first two batters he faced, leading to a first inning run that gave UTSA an early 1-0 lead. From that point on, Favors allowed just three hits and one unearned run over the final eight frames, retiring 11 of the last 12 Roadrunners to close out the win.

The WSU offense gave him plenty of support with a trio of three-run innings. With the game tied 1-1 in the third,&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/kam-durnin/7604">Kam Durnin</a>&nbsp;delivered with the bases loaded and two outs, ripping a line drive through the left side that skipped by UTSA left fielder Caleb Hill to the warning track. The single combined with the error scored all three runners for a 4-1 lead.&nbsp;

More two-out magic blew the game open in the sixth.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/lane-haworth/7609">Lane Haworth</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/jordan-rogers/7538">Jordan Rogers</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/derek-williams/7627">Derek Williams</a>&nbsp;all lashed two-out RBI singles to expand the advantage to 7-2. A&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/camden-johnson/7605">Camden Johnson</a>&nbsp;run-scoring single in the eighth made it 8-2, then Wichita State tacked on three more runs in the top of the ninth. Durnin crushed a long solo home run to give him a season-high four RBI, followed by a Haworth RBI triple and a Rogers RBI single to produce the final margin.

The Shockers banged out 15 hits, getting three from Haworth and two apiece from Rogers, Williams, Durnin, Johnson and&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/jaden-gustafson/7525">Jaden Gustafson</a>.

UTSA ace Ulises&nbsp;Quiroga (6-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing five runs on five hits over 5.1 innings.

After the offensive outburst in the opener, Wichita State was silenced for the first six innings by UTSA's Braylon Owens, making his first start of the season. The Shockers mustered just three singles against the right-hander, while the Roadrunners struck for single runs in the first and second to stake Owens to a 2-0 lead.

In the seventh, Durnin coaxed a one-out walk that spelled the end of the day for Owens. UTSA elected to bring in reliever Ruger Riojas, who threw 42 pitches out of the bullpen in Friday's series opener. The Shockers greeted Riojas with three consecutive singles, including an RBI knock from&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/ryan-callahan/7594">Ryan Callahan</a>&nbsp;that got the Shockers on the board at 2-1. With the bases loaded and still just one out, the Roadrunners called upon closer Fischer Kingsberry to face the top of the WSU order. Haworth cracked his first pitch to deep left for a game-tying sacrifice fly, then Rogers battled back from a 1-2 count to draw a walk that reloaded the bases.

Williams put the Shockers in front with a hit by pitch, pushing home Callahan with the go-ahead run for a 3-2 lead. Head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/brian-green/1158">Brian Green</a>&nbsp;summoned&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/josh-livingston/7602">Josh Livingston</a>&nbsp;as a pinch-hitter and he answered the call with a towering grand slam to right field, stretching the Wichita State advantage to 7-2. Livingston became the first Shocker in program history with three pinch-hit home runs in a season and the first with a pinch-hit grand slam since Zach Reding in 2016.

Haworth tacked on an insurance run with a fielder's choice grounder in the eighth and the Shocker bullpen took it the rest of the way. UTSA got a two-run homer from Alexander Olivo in the ninth, but&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/nate-adler/7515">Nate Adler</a>&nbsp;retired the next two hitters to secure the series win.

Reliever&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/tyler-dobbs/7616">Tyler Dobbs</a>&nbsp;(6-4) earned the win with two perfect innings, striking out two.&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/hunter-holmes/8976">Hunter Holmes</a>&nbsp;contributed four outs before handing the ball to Adler in the ninth.

Starter&nbsp;<a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/brady-hamilton/7614">Brady Hamilton</a>&nbsp;pitched brilliantly after allowing the two early runs, finishing his outing by retiring the final 12 hitters he faced. The freshman ended with 5.0 innings of work, conceding four hits and two runs.

&nbsp; MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– Rising sophomore&nbsp;Baye Fall(Dakar, Senegal/Accelerated Prep [Colo.]/Arkansas)&nbsp;became just the fifth McDonald's All-American to sign a Financial Aid Agreement with Kansas State, as head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/jerome-tang/2353">Jerome Tang</a>&nbsp;made a splash with the first big addition to his 2024-25 front court.

The 2023 McDonald's All-American is the first such honoree to ink with the Wildcats and the first since&nbsp;Wally Judge&nbsp;in 2009. The others include&nbsp;Tom Freeman&nbsp;in 1977,&nbsp;Deryl Cunningham&nbsp;in 1991 and&nbsp;Michael Beasley&nbsp;in 2007. Fall is the second McDonald's All-American to join via transfer following Cunningham who came from DePaul.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A 6-foot-11, 215-pound wing originally from Dakar, Senegal, Fall arrives at K-State after one season (2023-24) at Arkansas, where he saw limited action in 9 games with 45 total minutes as a true freshman. He scored in 4 games, including a season-high 4 points in the opener against Alcorn State on Nov. 6, 2023, to go with season-bests in rebounds (4), blocks (2) and steals (2) in 9 minutes.

Fall is the fifth player to sign with the Wildcats for the 2024-25 season, including the fourth Division I transfer following Dug McDaniel(Washington, D.C./St. Paul VI Catholic VI/Michigan), Christian (C.J.) This came after playing his junior season at Denver Prep Academy, where he averaged 14.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He began his high school career at Lutheran High School in Parker, Colo., leading the Lions to the 2021 Class 3A State Championship.

Accelerated Prep is an independent, faith-based program designed for college and NBA-bound athletes, which competes in the national basketball prep circuit known as The Grind Session. Fall starred for Accelerated Prep during the 2023 Grind Session, averaging 13.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and a team-high 1.7 blocks while playing in 9 games. He was selected to play in The Grind Session All-Star Game as well as the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit.

Fall played 13 minutes in the 2023 McDonald's All-American game on March 28, at the Toyota Center in Houston, where he had 2 points and 4 rebounds for the West squad that lost 109-106. He was joined on the West Team by Baylor's JaKobe Walter, Kentucky's Reed Sheppard and USC's Isaiah Collier.

Prior to his senior season at Accelerated Prep, Fall was a standout at the prestigious National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Top 100 camp in the summer of 2022 where he was named to the 10-player All-Star squad after leading the event in both scoring (14.9 ppg.) and rebounding (9.4 rpg.) in 7 games.

Originally from Senegal -- the westernmost country in continental Africa -- Fall came to the U.S. in 2018 at the age of 15 to pursue educational and basketball opportunities, eventually settling in the Denver area with his uncle and cousin. He started his high school career at Lutheran High School in Parker, Colo., where he led the Lions to the 2021 CHSAA Class 3A State Championship as a sophomore en route to earning Class 3A State Player of the Year, MaxPreps Colorado Player of the Year and First Team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American honors.

Fall earned MVP honors in the 72-56 win over top-seeded St. Mary's in the state championship, posting a near triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. He finished his sophomore season, averaging 22.1 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game while shooting 65 percent from the field.

The summer between his sophomore and junior seasons, Fall jumped onto the national scene at the 2021 Pangos All-American Top 30 Camp in Las Vegas, where he shared co-MVP honors.

Fall averaged a double-double as a freshman at Lutheran, averaging 19 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game while shooting 67 percent from the field. He led the Lions to the Class 3A state quarterfinals en route to earning Class 3A Second Team All-State and MaxPreps Freshman Second Team All-American honors.

K-State was one of Fall's finalists coming out of high school, along Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Texas, before he selected the Razorbacks.

Fall is fluent in 10 languages and dialects, including English, Spanish, French and German.

&nbsp; K-State finished the 2023-24 season with a 19-15 record, including a tie for ninth in the Big 12 with an 8-10 mark, and advanced to the NIT. Among the Wildcats' 19 victories were 4 over Top 25 teams, including 3 in the Top 10. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Max Verstappen inched closer to a third consecutive win at the Miami Grand Prix on Saturday by continuing his long domination of Formula 1 qualifying. The three-time reigning F1 champion won his seventh consecutive pole, but first at Miami, where Verstappen failed to earn the top starting spot in the first two races around Hard Rock Stadium, yet still won them both. The pole-winning run tied Verstappen with Alain Prost in opening the season with six consecutive poles. Prost did it in 1993. DODGE CITY &ndash; Trailing twice in its Region VI Softball Tournament match-up with the Barton Cougars, the second-seeded Hutchinson Community College softball team came up with some clutch performances late to help the Blue Dragons advance in the winner&apos;s bracket on Friday.

 Tomlinson and the bottom of the Blue Dragon batting order came up big against the Cougars on Saturday.
Trailing 3-1 in the third inning, Tomlinson entered the pitching circle with runners and second and third and one out. Tomlinson got a strikeout and groundout to get out of the inning.
Barton threatened again in the fourth with a runner at third and two out. Center fielder <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2023-24/bios/lies_korri_k1mj" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Korri Lies</a> ended the threat with a long running catch in shallow right-center field to end the inning. Then in the sixth, Barton had runners at 1st and 2nd to start the inning, but Tomlinson got a force out at third, a ground ball to short that moved the runners to second and third and a strikeout to end the threat with no runs scored and keep the game tied at 3-3.
The Dragons broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners at first and second and one out, Brawner singled through the left side of the infield to score Lies from second with the go-ahead run.
Tomlinson then worked a 1-2-3 seventh to close out the game and improve her record to 15-1, which ties Amy Derischweiler (2006) for 12th in single-season wins by a Blue Dragon pitcher. Tomlinson allowed three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Brawner drove in three runs on Friday, going 2 for 3 to pace the Blue Dragons. Brawner delivers a two-out, two-run double in the second inning to score Lies and <a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2023-24/bios/backhaus_brooke_06ze" style="color: rgb(204, 45, 55);font-size: 14px;">Brooke Backhaus</a>, tying the game at 2-2.
Lies was 3 for 3 for the second-straight game with three runs scored.
