HUTCHINSON, Kan. — An accident at Avenue A and Adams Saturday morning sent one person to the hospital.

According to Hutchinson Police Capt. Dayton Gates, a vehicle was westbound on Avenue A approaching Adams when the driver suffered what police believe to be a medical emergency.

The vehicle left the roadway in the 100 block of West Avenue A, crossed through the intersection, crashed into a curb and then into a traffic signal pole.  The vehicle then overturned and came to a rest on its side with the driver still suspended from her intact seatbelt.

HFD conducted a vehicle extrication and the driver was removed from the vehicle and taken to HRMC with minor injuries as a result from the collision.

The HPD Traffic Unit believed due to the driver wearing her seatbelt, it greatly reduced the injuries she sustained as a result of the collision.
