HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre and the Hutchinson Community Foundation are hosting performances atop the Fox marquee on May 1.

"We’re excited to be a part of Match Day this year, as it greatly helps build our endowed funds," shared Josh Davies, Executive Director of Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre. "Our aim is to cultivate a sense of community by featuring local musicians performing atop the marquee during the event."

Local Hutchinson musician, John Depew, will ascend to the marquee beginning at 11:30 a.m., treating listeners to a combination of original songs, and a mix of music by other bluegrass greats. His set will wrap up at 1:00 p.m.

Then, starting at 3:30 p.m., local saxophonist, Ralph Brown and keyboardist Doug Kaufman will take their turn atop the marquee. “I’ve never been on top of the marquee, I guess I can add that to my resume!” stated Ralph Brown.

While the Match Day event itself is not affected by weather, the outdoor marquee performances are subject to weather conditions.

Other Match Day events will be at the Wiley Building, 100 N. Main St., Hutchinson, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donors can give to their choice of 38 Reno County nonprofit organizations. Those gifts will be met proportionately from the community foundation’s $100,000 matching pool. All gifts will benefit those organizations’ endowed funds.
