Lyle Andrew “Andy” Flummerfelt passed away on April 14, 2023 in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born December 26, 1947 in Liberal, Kansas to A.A. “Buck” and Virginia (Lyle) Flummerfelt.&nbsp; He was raised in Ulysses, Kansas and graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1965.&nbsp; He then graduated from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; In October 1968 he joined the United States Army.&nbsp; He started Basic Training in Fort Bliss, Texas and went on to Advanced Individual Training as a combat engineer and also Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) school at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from September 1969 to June 1971 completing 1-1/2 tours of duty.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army he moved back to Ulysses and went to work for The Happy Painters. They were well known in Southwest Kansas for working hard and playing hard. Several years later he went to work for Woody’s Electric. The memories of those days in his life stayed with Andy forever.&nbsp; In 1982 Andy moved to Hutchinson and went to work for Lowen Corporation for many years. He finished his work career at Graphic Impressions retiring in 2015.

His hobbies were reading, listening to music, playing and watching softball, socializing with friends, and spending time with his family.&nbsp; Andy was always known and loved for his kind heart, his quick wit and his great sense of humor.&nbsp; Oh the stories that could be told!

He is survived by his beloved daughter Erica Flummerfelt of Hutchinson, and stepson Matt Gillespie and his four children of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers Roger Flummerfelt and Tommy Flummerfelt, and sister Mary Jo Zerr and husband Greg, all of Ulysses; his nieces Ginny, Heather, and Megan and their families; numerous other family and lifetime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roberta Flummerfelt.

Military graveside services will be held at the Ulysses Cemetery on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at Corporate East Hotel, 1110 E. Oklahoma Ave, Ulysses, KS, immediately following the graveside service.

Teresa Murillo, 85, died April 18, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.&nbsp; She was born Teresita Berta Reyes in Columbus, NM, to Guadalupe Terrazas Reyes and Amador Z. Reyes Sr. &nbsp;Teresa grew up in Hurley, NM, attending Cobre High School.&nbsp;

Teresa married her husband, Ruben M. Murillo Sr. June 15, 1956, in New Mexico and then moved to Hutchinson. She was a devoted housewife and mother and later in life, Teresa worked as a custodian for 17 years at Hutchinson Community College. Teresa was a 32-year cancer survivor and grateful to the Cancer Council of Reno County.

A lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Teresa put her faith into action. She loved her prayer group, and was involved with Perpetual Adoration since its inception. Teresa loved praying the Divine Mercy, the Rosary, attending Mass and giving bendiciones/blessings. She was a devoted Catholic, which was the core of her faith foundation. Teresa was dedicated to demonstrating Christ’s love to all who met her.

Survivors are: her children, Ruben Murillo Jr. (Larry Van Sickle) of Henderson, NV, Robert Murillo, Adella Luna and David (Dreda) Murillo, all of Hutchinson; close family friend, Tim Ward, OH; grandchildren, Anthony Delgado, Sal Luna, Lisa (DJ) Chapman, Emily (Nick) Brady and Nicholas Murillo; great-grandchildren, Taiyah, Tyris, Taryn and Nehemiah Chapman, Matthew Delgado and Evelyn Delgado, Alayna and Lilyana Luna; sisters, Maria Moreno, Edna Ordonez, Martha (Andrew) Garcia, Olga (Wero) Huerta, and Rose Marie (Jose) Sierra; and brother-in-law, Frank Viegra. &nbsp;Teresa dearly loved her nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Robert Horace ‘Bob’ Milner III, 93, of Hutchinson, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at Hester Care Center-Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; He was born April 4, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to Robert H. Milner II and Florence Velma (Franklin) Milner.

Bob was a 1948 graduate of Lyons Township High School, La Grange, IL. He received a Business Administration Degree, in 1952, from Knox College, Galesburg, IL, and was a member of the college’s Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity and the ROTC program.&nbsp; Shortly after his college graduation, Bob was commissioned into the United States Army in August 1952.&nbsp; On April 11, 1953, Bob married Olive Ann Waggener, in La Grange, IL, and then he was sent to Korea to serve from July 1953 to May 1954.&nbsp; Upon his return from the service, Bob and Olive made their home in Galesburg, IL for a short time, before moving to Waterloo, IA., where he began working in sales for Rath Packing Company.&nbsp; Bob spent his adult life working in sales for various meat packing companies, ending up in Arkansas City, KS, where he retired in 1996.&nbsp; In 2007, Bob and Olive relocated to Hutchinson, KS, to be closer to family, where he resided until his death.&nbsp;

He was an active railroad fan and photographer from his teenage years, with many of his photos appearing in train-related publications.&nbsp; Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.&nbsp; During Bob’s lifetime, he was a member of various organizations, such as the Hutchinson Rotary Club, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and the Burlington Route Historical Society.&nbsp; H was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, KS.

Bob is survived by:&nbsp; his children, Anne (Jack) Wilson, Robert (Jennifer) Milner IV, and Mary (Darrell) Pankratz; daughter-in-law, Lynne Milner; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and numerous other cherished relatives.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; wife, Olive Milner; son, John Milner; and grandson, Kyle Milner.

Robert Horace ‘Bob’ Milner III |1930-2023|

INMAN, Kan. —&nbsp;The 33rd Annual Inman Classic Car Show along with the Inman Spring Festival is Saturday, April 22. &nbsp;

Lori Kearns, Event Coordinator for the Inman Classic Car Show, anticipates 225 cars at this year’s show. &nbsp;

Inman Chamber of Commerce became involved with the Inman Classic Car Show about 15&nbsp;years ago. &nbsp;

“The original people, Stan and LaDonna Balzer, had just kind of burned out and they were short on help and so the Chamber got involved,” Kearns said. “Interestingly enough, Stan and LaDonna still live here, and they get to come down and choose a car Saturday of their choice and that will be given the Balzer’s Beauty Award.”&nbsp;

In the world of automotive shows, 33 years is impressive longevity. &nbsp;

“We get just some really, really nice, quality cars and we really try to attract the classic cars, and that’s why it says Inman Classic Car Show.” Kearns said. “We have vehicles coming from as far Mesquite, Texas. We got another guy coming from Delta, Colorado, comes every year. Just nice, quality, well done cars.” &nbsp;

New this year, the Inman Classic Car Show is adding five trophies to car classes from the year 2000 and newer. &nbsp;

“Because those cars are destined to be classic someday and there’s some nice ones that we get that are probably trophy worthy,” Kearns said. “It is a way we wanted to attract some of those cars.”&nbsp;

Adding new millennium cars is meant to attract interest in those vehicles as well as attract younger people to the classic car game and provide a future for the Inman Classic Car Show. &nbsp;

The fact is that many collectors and restorers of vintage automobiles are dying due to the hobby being so old. It is a reminder that innovations age&nbsp;with people. Few things compare to the unique definition of longevity attributed to&nbsp;the constant evolving nature that is&nbsp;automotive technology. &nbsp;

According to Kearns,&nbsp;the minimum age a car can be considered ‘classic’ is 25 years old. &nbsp;

“If you don’t get the youngers involved, your car show is going to die,” Kearns said. &nbsp;

This makes a seemingly simple event like a car show, have more of a meaningful impact to the community it is in. &nbsp;

Popular among young and to be prominently featured at the Inman Classic Car Show, are the square-body Chevrolet pickup trucks. &nbsp;

Other cars to be featured this year’s show will be:&nbsp;

A&nbsp;66’ Ford Mustang from McPherson, Kansas.&nbsp;

A 67’ and 68’ Chevrolet Camaro from a husband and wife in Hutchinson, Kansas. &nbsp;

Several Rat Rods are also registered. Rat Rods are different to judge due to the unique criteria in their class. &nbsp;

There will be awards for the highest scoring vehicles of the day in the Top 35 category. Then 10 Bests for several other categories. &nbsp;

The big prize of the day is, Best of Show, for the highest scoring vehicle. The Best of Show winner will take home a crystal trophy and $250. &nbsp;

A crystal trophy will also be awarded to the highest scoring motorcycle of the show. &nbsp;

The Inman Classic Car Show will be judged by students from the McPherson College Automotive Restoration program. &nbsp;

At the Inman Classic Car Show, live music by the Phaetons as well as the Salt City Cowboy Church Band will be played from noon to 3 p.m.&nbsp;

Registration for the 33rd Annual Inman Classic Car Show will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday.  &nbsp;

Concurrent with the Inman Classic Car Show, the Inman Spring Festival will be full of activities and events for those not quite interested in vintage automobiles.&nbsp;

The Spring Festival is organized by the Inman Chamber of Commerce under Chamber president Shane Williams. &nbsp;

People can start their day with a Pancake Feed at the Inman Senior Center. &nbsp;

There will also be a disc golf tournament at Lambert Park starting at 9 a.m.&nbsp;

There will be a crafts and vendors show. &nbsp;&nbsp;

A Kiddie Coral&nbsp;from Salt City Cowboy Church.&nbsp;

A Kiddie Dash-for Cash event will take place at 1 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity to scramble and grab candy and cash. &nbsp;

There will also be a benefit basket auction. All funds will benefit the medical expenses of the Danae Osborn family.

Following the Car Show, people are invited to go to Lambert Park for an evening concert to benefit the Danae Osborn family.

The concert will be headlined by Sam Shilts.&nbsp;

At 4 p.m., the Lyons Club Fishing Derby. The evening will also host a Pedal Tractor Pull, with registration at 5:30 p.m. and the event at 6 p.m.&nbsp;

A cornhole tournament is slated 6 p.m. at Lambert Park. Registration is $20.&nbsp;

The benefit concert will also host plenty of food trucks.&nbsp;

The No. 15-ranked Hutchinson Community College softball team swept Jayhawk Conference Division I weekly honors for the third time this season on Tuesday.

Freshman outfielder&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/darnell_jaeleigh_lirb">Jaeleigh Darnell</a>&nbsp;was named the league's Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/pennycuff_morgan_4wht">Morgan Pennycuff</a>&nbsp;was named the Pitcher of the week.

Darnell is the fourth Blue Dragon to be selected as the KJCCC Player of the week, joining&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/goetz_aspen_qe50">Aspen Goetz</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/wertz_riley_hm55">Riley Wertz</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/sandoval_olivia_qojo">Olivia Sandoval</a>.

Pennycuff's second weekly league honor is the fifth time this season that a Blue Dragon pitcher earned weekly honors.

Pennycuff, a freshman from Auburn, Nebraska, hit .455 for the week and had some very meaningful hits in a huge doubleheader sweep of Barton last week for the then-No. 17 Blue Dragons. Darnell was 5 for 11 with eight RBIs, including a double, triple and home run.

In the Dragons' doubleheader sweep of Barton, Darnell hit a three-run home run in Game 1 and added a three-run triple in Game 2 against the Cougars.

Pennycuff, a sophomore from Augusta, orchestrated back-to-back complete-game shutouts over Barton and Dodge City to go 2-0 for the Blue Dragons last week.

Pennycuff allowed a combined three hits over 12 innings – 1 to Barton, 2 to Dodge City – as she improved her season record to 12-2. Pennycuff had 10 strikeouts to only two walks.

NEWTON – The Hutchinson Community College men's golf team captured its fourth-straight Jayhawk Conference team title, winning the Jayhawk Championship, the third-and-final league designated tournament of the season, on Tuesday at Sand Creek Station.

Blue Dragon freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/lindstrom_alex_7wqw">Alex Lindstrom</a>&nbsp;won his second league tournament on Tuesday and was crowned the 2023 Jayhawk Conference individual season champion, the fourth-straight season that honor has been claimed by a Blue Dragon.

No. 2 nationally ranked Hutchinson carded a 2-over 290 on Tuesday to win the tournament by 16 strokes over No. 3 Dodge City. The Conquistadors shot 286 in the final round on Tuesday.

Hutchinson won the team title with 24.5 team points, which were amassed over the season's three league tournaments. The Blue Dragons tied Dodge City in the first league tournament and won Jayhawk No. 2 last week by 29 strokes.

The 2023 team championship is the 11th in Blue Dragon program history.

The Blue Dragons counted scores on Tuesday of 70 from Lindstrom, 73 from&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/clemons_dominic_18vf">Dominic Clemons</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/saffell_blake_2ov2">Blake Saffell</a>&nbsp;and 74 from&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/anderson_marco_z2pq">Marco Anderson</a>.

Lindstrom was battling Barton's Worathan Thammachokecharoen for the individual title all day Tuesday, playing in the final group after the two players entered the final round tied for the tournament lead at 2-under par.

Thammachokecharoen led by one stroke through 11 holes. Lindstrom played the final seven holes in 2-under par, including three-straight birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 16. Thammachokecharoen was 3-over par of the final seven holes.

Lindstrom joins Ben Partridge (2022), Partridge and Charlie Crocket (2021) and Crocket (2019) during this current run of Blue Dragon individual league champions (the 2020 season was wiped out because of the Coronavirus pandemic). Lindstrom is the 12th Blue Dragon player to win the KJCCC individual season title.

Lindstrom finished with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday and won the individual tournament title with his third-straight under-par round in the tournament, closing at 4-under 212. Lindstrom won the tournament by three strokes over Dodge City's Supakit Seelanagae (215) and Thammachokecharoen (216).

Lindstrom won the season championship with 29 points. Saffell finished second in the season standings with 23.75 points and Clemons was fourth with 17 points. Lindstrom, Saffell and Clemons earned All-KJCCC first-team players. Anderson earned second-team all-league honors, placing ninth in the league standings with 11.75 points. Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/galvin_louis_mscz">Louis Galvin</a>&nbsp;was an honorable mention player with four points and a 14th-place finish.

Four Blue Dragons placed in the tournament Top 10.

Clemons closed with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to place fourth at 1-over 217.

Saffell tied for fifth at 3-over 219 after a 73 on Tuesday.

Anderson tied for ninth at 3-over 74 and shot a 54-hole total of 5-over 221.

Galvin shot a 75 on Tuesday and tied for 20th at 231.

Individual player&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/svederman_kalle_hvj9">Kalle Svederman</a>&nbsp;shot a 74 on Tuesday and placed 19th in the tournament at 230.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/sauder_brooks_5d71">Brooks Sauder</a>&nbsp;shot 86 on Tuesday and closed the tournament tied for 39th at 244.

The Blue Dragons will next play at the Central District/Region VI Tournament at Crestview Country Club North on Monday and Tuesday in Wichita.

⛳️ HutchCC Golf wins KJCCC Championship for 4th straight year

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson said Tuesday that they are still looking for applicants for the seventeen openings in the district for teachers. Many of those are at the elementary level.

"We are very concerned," Johnson said. "We are just not getting any applications. I know the pipeline coming out of college is even smaller. We did have an opportunity where we were working with a community group, to go to Langston University down in Oklahoma. As we were working on that, we said, let's expand that to other areas in the community. The Chamber got involved, Dillons got involved, the hospital and some other organizations and went down and kind of had a little mini fair at a university."

Langston University is the only historically black college or university (HBCU) in the state of Oklahoma. The hope is to get some decisions made about next year in just a few weeks.

"We may have to take a hard look," Johnson said. "Depending on how we solve this problem, we may or may not move forward with the Graber and McCandless boundary change now. That is a possibility. We know, again, that we have more buildings than we have staff for. We want that facility committee to help us. I'll try to put those two things together. I do want to come back, for those folks who are wondering what we're going to look like next year. My goal is that by the May 8 school board meeting, we have a decision made."

Johnson said they may even have to hold a special board meeting before that, if they can figure out what they are going to do.

Many of those are at the elementary level."We are very concerned," Johnson said. "We are just not getting any applications. I know the pipeline coming out of college is even smaller. We did have an opportunity where we were working with a community group, to go to Langston University down in Oklahoma. As we were working on that, we said, let's expand that to other areas in the community. The Chamber got involved, Dillons got involved, the hospital and some other organizations and went down and kind of had a little mini fair at a university."Langston University is the only historically black college or university (HBCU) in the state of Oklahoma. The hope is to get some decisions made about next year in just a few weeks."We may have to take a hard look," Johnson said. "Depending on how we solve this problem, we may or may not move forward with the Graber and McCandless boundary change now. That is a possibility. We know, again, that we have more buildings than we have staff for. We want that facility committee to help us. I'll try to put those two things together. I do want to come back, for those folks who are wondering what we're going to look like next year. Johnson: Teacher shortage may force different elementary alignment

Robert Wayne Balding, 73, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 11:27 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. Robert was born in Hardtner, KS on May 28, 1949, a son of Richard and Dorothy (Hoffman) Balding. Bob graduated from Nickerson High School in 1967. He then attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, KS and graduated from Kansas University, Lawrence, KS with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Bob and his family attended Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson for approximately 25 years, where Bob served as a faithful follower of Christ. Bob and Susan then attended CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson, KS. He served honorably for the United States Army where he was a part of the Special Forces Battalion. Bob was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor For Outstanding Service in connection with military operations against a hostile force during the Vietnam War. Bob was an accountant for many companies throughout his life in Hutchinson, Wichita, Topeka, McPherson and Rose Hill. Bob enjoyed reading, watching and playing golf with his buddies and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. &nbsp; Bob was united in marriage to Susan Spence on June 7, 1975 in Hutchinson, KS. The young couple established their first home together in Hutchinson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Lance, Adam and Cindy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susan Balding, of McPherson, KS; his children, Lance Balding and his wife Lorrie, of Miami, FL, Adam Balding and his wife Hayley, of Apex, NC and Cindy Glover and her husband Brian of Bel Aire, KS; his sister Kathy Howes, of Hutchinson, KS and Pam Berns and her husband Bruce, of Perry, KS. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Trevor, Zachary, Atticus, Ahmya, Lily, Siri, Malachi, and a baby coming in May; other relatives; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. NEWTON – Bidding for its fourth-consecutive conference championship, the No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team takes a 20-stroke lead into the final round Tuesday at the Jayhawk Championship at Sand Creek Station.

The Blue Dragons posted rounds of 289 and 288 to finish the first 36 holes at 1-over 577. No. 3 nationally ranked Dodge City shot 597 (301-296) on Monday.

The final 18 holes of the 54-hole event starts at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Dragons lead Dodge City 15.5-15.4 in the KJCCC team standings after two tournaments.

The Dragons opened a 12-stroke lead after 18 holes after posting a 1-over 289. The Blue Dragons counted rounds form&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/lindstrom_alex_7wqw">Alex Lindstrom</a>&nbsp;(71),&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/anderson_marco_z2pq">Marco Anderson</a>&nbsp;(72),&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/clemons_dominic_18vf">Dominic Clemons</a>&nbsp;(73) and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/mgolf/2022-23/bios/galvin_louis_mscz">Louis Galvin</a>&nbsp;(73). The Blue Dragons will be paired with Dodge City and Barton in the final round on Tuesday.

The individual leaderboard is tight with a tie for first place and 12 players within five strokes of the lead after 36 holes.

Lindstrom is tied with Barton's Worathan Thammachonecharoen at 2-under 142. Both players carded back-to-back 71s on Monday.

Clemons is two strokes behind the leaders at even-par 144. Clemons is tied for third with Coffeyville's Braden Smith.

Saffell is seventh after two rounds at 2-over 146. Saffell had rounds of 75 and 71.

Anderson is eighth individually at 3-over 147.

Galvin is tied for 21st at 156 after rounds of 73 and 83 on Monday.

Svederman was tied for the lead after the opening round with a 71. He struggled in the second round with an 85. Sauder carded rounds of 82 and 76.

Lindstrom and Saffell entered the Jayhawk Championship in a three-way tie for first in the KJCCC season standings with 14 points each. Dodge City's Arthit Kruaprayong is the other player in that tie. Anderson is fourth in the league standing with nine points. Clemons is ninth with 6.5 points.

For the third time in five games, the Hutchinson Community College baseball team hit five home runs in a game as the Blue Dragons run-ruled the Sterling College Junior Varsity 14-3 on Monday at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Blue Dragons improved to 21-22 overall and will return to Jayhawk West action on Thursday at Garden City. The Dragons and Warriors will continue their three-game series next Monday in Sterling.

A.J. Mustow hit two home runs, including a two-run walkoff in the seventh inning.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/bradford_blake_qa9v">Blake Bradford</a>'s fourth-inning grand slam broke a 1-1 tie.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/edmunson_will_rdcc">Will Edmunson</a>&nbsp;went back-to-back with Bradford for his ninth home run of the season.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2022-23/bios/gardner_jack_8lt5">Jack Gardner</a>&nbsp;added a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

The Blue Dragons tallied 14 total hits, including seven for extra bases.

⚾️ Blue Dragons mash five homers to defeat Sterling JV

After reaching program win No. 1,000, the Hutchinson Community College softball team moved up again in the latest NJCAA Division I softball rankings to No. 15 in the nation.

The Blue Dragons moved up from No. 17 after splitting with the Butler Grizzlies for the second time this season, which dropped the Blue Dragons from No. 15 two weeks ago. Hutchinson has reached as high as No. 13 in the poll but split with the Colby Trojans on the road.

Coming off last week's doubleheader sweeps over Barton (9-1 in five innings, 13-0 in five innings) and Dodge City (8-0 in six innings, 7-0), the Blue Dragons host Northwest Tech at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Fun Valley Sports Complex.

The top 10 of the rankings did not change with Florida SouthWestern remaining the No. 1 team in the country at 43-3 overall. Grayson remains No. 2 while the previous No. 3 team Northwest Florida State fell to No. 5. Odessa and Walters State leapfrogged Northwest Florida State to No. 3 and No. 4.

Sandra Elizabeth Berg, 64, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on October 11, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on February 21, 1958, in Lindsborg Kansas to Ernest William and Thelma Lois (Keeling) Berg. Cremation has taken place. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents.

Sandi graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1976 and went on to attend Hesston College in Kansas to earn her Degree in Nursing. She was employed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Sandi enjoyed traveling, knitting, bird watching, drawing, writing and spending time with friends. She was always researching something new and exciting.

She is survived by sisters of the heart: Cynthia Welch of McPherson, Ks, Debbie (Mark) Mock of Hutchinson, KS, Heike (Toby) Karnes of Lindsborg, KS; Brothers of the heart: Gene Ellis of Salina, KS and Wesley Bierig of Salina, KS. Nieces and nephews of the heart: Jeremy, Christopher, Tori and Alyssa Mock; Samantha, Corbin, Anna and Grant Karnes.

A celebration of life is planned for May 21, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lindsborg Masonic Lodge, 112 S. Main Street, Lindsborg, KS.

Timothy Raymond Oglesby, loving husband, dad, and “Grandpa/Pappo," departed for his eternal heavenly home on April 13, 2023, after a brief 
battle with pneumonia. Tim, the son of Freeman and Erma Delores “Buzzy” 
(Carpenter) Oglesby, was born on March 8, 1951, in Independence, Missouri
 but spent much of his childhood and adolescence in Ashland, Nebraska. 
He and his siblings David, Melissa, and Suzy enjoyed an adventurous 
youth, and the retelling of their exploits continue to entertain even 
decades later. They never let facts get in the way of a good story. &nbsp;

Tim graduated from Ashland High School in 1969 and began his college 
career at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he met his 
wife Connie Friedley over their shared love of worship. They wed in 
1971, and Tim continued his academic journey at the University of 
Nebraska in Lincoln, where he received a bnachelor’s degree in Music 
Education in 1974. Tim taught music briefly before discovering his 
charismatic personality lent itself perfectly to a career in sales, and 
he spent 30 years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. Tim and 
Connie welcomed their son Nicholas in 1981 and daughter Christina in 
1985. The young family attended The Father’s House Church in Hutchinson,
 where Tim and Connie continued sharing their love of music leading 
worship until Connie lost her lengthy battle with breast cancer in 1991.

Tim found his second chance at happiness when he met Jackie Ellis at 
church, and they joined their two families including Jackie’s son Luke 
and daughter Sarah in December 1992. Tim and Jackie’s spiritual journey 
led them to convert to Catholicism in 2013, and Tim went on to receive 
his Master’s in Theological Studies at Newman University in Wichita in 
2015. He created his catechism class “On Fire Catholic University,"&nbsp; which allowed him the opportunity to share his passion for the faith. 
When he wasn’t preparing for class, he loved connecting with family and 
friends and cheering on his beloved Huskers and Chiefs.

Tim leaves behind his wife Jackie, son Luke (Laura) Ellis, daughter 
Sarah (Eric) Horton, son Nicholas (Kari) Oglesby, and daughter Christina
 (Yancy) Young and all three of his siblings. He also leaves behind 11 
grandchildren – Landen, John, Lincoln, Abel, Genevieve, Shepherd, 
Guinevere, Sebastian, Callahan, Violet, and Hildegard. He was preceded 
in death by his parents, his first wife Connie, and granddaughter 
Samantha.

Teaching the faith sustained him all his life and he was a powerful 
witness to the love of the Lord, until he saw him face to face. To know 
Tim, was to be his family, he never met a person who stayed a stranger.&nbsp;
 Please join our family in celebrating Tim’s life with a Viewing and 
Visitation Tuesday, April 18th, from 4-6pm at the Inman Funeral Home in Inman, Kansas.&nbsp; His funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19th,&nbsp; at St Teresa’s Catholic Church in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; Rosary will 
begin at 10:00am with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30am.&nbsp; All will be

NORTH NEWTON, Kan.—Freshmen&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/hoskinson_taylor_a2wy">Taylor Hoskinson</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/hernandez_madelyn_xh1v">Madelyn Hernandez</a>&nbsp;both had event championships and event runner-up finishes to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team on Saturday at Bethel College.

Overall, the Blue Dragons had a season-high three event victories and nine top-three finishes on Saturday.

Hoskinson won the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:12.43. She placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.69

Hernandez captured the 100-meter hurdle title with a time of 15.32 second. She was second in the high jump after clearing 5-1 (1.55 meters).

The other event victory came as part of a 1-2-3 Blue Dragon sweep in the pole vault. All-American&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/martinez_violet_ghy2">Violet Martinez</a>&nbsp;after clearing 9 feet, 2.25 inches (2.80m). Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/noll_alivia_vman">Alivia Noll</a>&nbsp;also cleared 9.2.25, but Martinez had fewer misses and won the event. All-Americana&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/brown_kiana_ndhf">Kiana Brown</a>&nbsp;finished third after clearing 8-2.5 (2.50m).

In addition to Hoskinson, two other Blue Dragons placed in the top six of the 1,500. Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/larson_serenity_v620">Serenity Larson</a>&nbsp;was second with a time of 5:15.55.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2022-23/bios/lambert_gracie_ol52">Gracie Lambert</a>&nbsp;placed sixth with a time of 5:19.84.

👟 Hoskinson, Hernandez lead Blue Dragon women at Bethel Invite

DODGE CITY, Kan.—The No. 17-ranked Hutchinson Community College softball team swept Dodge City and reached a milestone in program history on Saturday at Legends Park.

Pitchers&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/munson_emily_vjqm">Emily Munson</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/wertz_riley_hm55">Riley Wertz</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/pennycuff_morgan_4wht">Morgan Pennycuff</a>&nbsp;combined to allow only three hits as Hutchinson defeated Dodge City 8-0 in six innings and 7-0.

The Blue Dragons improved to 33-6 overall and 21-3 in the Jayhawk Conference. Hutchinson plays host to Northwest Tech at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Fun Valley. Dodge City is now 17-22 overall and 12-14 in the KJCCC.

Hutchinson reached the 1,000 all-time win plateau in its 38th season. The 33rd win this season moves the 2023 Blue Dragons into 10th place on the all-time program wins list. Head coach Jaime Rose reached the 550-win mark with the Blue Dragons and is two wins shy of reaching 600 for her coaching career.

The Blue Dragons earned a second-straight four-game season sweep of Dodge City and have won 10 consecutive games over the Conquistadors.

Hutchinson's pitching staff tossed its 11th and 12th shutouts of the season and third against Dodge City this season.

GAME 1 RECAP Munson improved to 6-0 for the season with five shutout innings in the first game on Saturday. The only hit Munson allowed was a single through the right side with two out in the third inning.

Munson struck out four, walked two and also hit a batter.

Wertz struck out three in one inning of work,

Offensively, the Blue Dragons hammered out 14 hits.

<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/goetz_aspen_qe50">Aspen Goetz</a>&nbsp;went 2 for 4 and drove in four runs to lead Hutchinson offensively. Goetz had a two-run single in the first inning and she added her 12th home run of the season in the sixth. Goetz now ranked No. 3 on the Blue Dragon single-season RBI list with 60 and is now sixth on the Hutchinson season home run list.

Freshman JaeLeigh Darnell was 2 for 4 and had an RBI single in the third inning.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/mastin_alexis_xhvz">Alexis Mastin</a>&nbsp;was 2 for 3.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/dougherty_ella_9103">Ella Dougherty</a>&nbsp;was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Wertz and&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/lies_korri_wryv">Korri Lies</a>&nbsp;had back-back RBI doubles in the fifth inning.&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/grimes_madison_371p">Madison Grimes</a>&nbsp;had an RBI on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.

GAME 2 RECAP Pennycuff twirled her second seven-inning complete game of the season and earned her team-high 12th victory of the season. Pennycuff had her fourth complete game and second complete-game shutout. The sophomore has also been part of three combined shutouts this season.

Pennycuff allowed just three baserunners in her two-hit shutout. The Conquistadors had a walk in eh first innings and singles in both the third and fifth innings. Pennycuff retired the final seven batters she faced in the game.

The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the first after Dougherty singled, stole second and scored on&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/sandoval_olivia_qojo">Olivia Sandoval</a>'s RBI single.

The game stayed 1-0 until the seventh inning when Hutchinson exploded for six runs. After pinch-runner&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/lozoya_tamara_3twe">Tamara Lozoya</a>&nbsp;scored on an error, Grimes drove in two runs to give Hutch a 4-0 lead. Mastin,&nbsp;<a href="https://bluedragonsports.com/sports/sball/2022-23/bios/stipsits_allie_zmyh">Allie Stipsits</a>&nbsp;and Wertz all had RBIs singles as Hutchinson built a 7-0 lead.

Dougherty and Sandoval had three hits each to lead Hutchinson's 12-hit attack. Grimes and Wertz had two hits each.

The Conquistadors had a walk in eh first innings and singles in both the third and fifth innings.
