⚾🥎 Hutch Post-area regional schedule for Monday

For children coping with the death of a loved one, navigating grief can be a lonely, confusing journey. But a special one-day camp hosted by Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in partnership with the Cosmosphere, aims to offer young hearts a space to heal — and a chance to connect with others on similar paths.

“A Space to Grieve” is a free day camp for children who have experienced the loss of a family member or close friend, regardless of whether hospice care was involved. The camp is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to just after 2:30 p.m. at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.

“It's not just about sadness — it's about hope, healing, and connection,” said Cindy Dubovich,&nbsp; from Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County. “Kids are surrounded by others who truly understand what they’re feeling. That shared experience is powerful.”

The camp, which has been held for several years, combines therapeutic activities with fun space-themed programming provided by Cosmosphere staff. Children participate in group sessions focused on grief, creative art expression, and play — tools to help process loss in a healthy, age-appropriate way.

Jennifer Sharp, also with Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, emphasized the importance of peer support.

“They may not talk every day after camp, but there’s something reassuring about knowing someone else your age gets it,” Sharp said. “Some of the kids will run into each other at school or local events and continue that sense of connection.”

Though the camp only lasts a single day, its impact often lingers. Sharp noted that her own child participated in the program and found lasting benefit from interacting with others in similar situations.

This year’s camp includes collaboration with local Hutchinson artists to help children explore their emotions through art. Parents will also receive resources to better support their children at home.

“There’s no manual for grieving, especially for kids,” Sharp said. “We encourage journaling or activities that honor their loved one — whatever helps them express what they’re feeling.”

The deadline to register is May 26. The camp is limited to 50 participants, and early registration is encouraged.

Thanks to community partnerships and local support, the camp is free to attend. Lunch will be provided, and children from all over Kansas are welcome.

“This camp isn’t about saying goodbye,” Dubovich said. “It’s about helping kids find a way forward, together.”

 Ellie Foos, a senior at Hutchinson High School, who graduated on Sunday, was the school’s only student completing the full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program — a milestone capping off 13 years in the USD 308 school district.

Foos, who has attended Hutchinson public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, is recognized not only for her academic achievements but also for her strong commitment to community service and leadership.

A standout on the tennis court, Foos qualified for the state tournament in both her junior and senior years. Off the court, she has been deeply involved in local and state youth initiatives. She volunteers through Rise Up Reno and serves on the Youth Philanthropy Council, helping to direct charitable efforts in the community.

She also holds positions on the Youth Advisory Board at the Hutchinson Public Library and formerly served on the Youth City Council. Her civic engagement extends statewide through her role with the Kansas Youth Prevention Action Council (KYPAC), where she advocates on behalf of Kansas youth at both the state and national levels.

This fall, Foos will attend the University of Kansas, where she has been accepted into the Honors Program and the prestigious LEAD (Legal Education Accelerated Degree) program. The LEAD track enables students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor in just six years. Foos plans to pursue a career in law, aiming to combine her passion for advocacy with a legal education.

“I’m excited to continue using my voice to support and uplift others,” Foos said. “The IB program has prepared me for the challenges ahead, and I look forward to building on what I’ve learned here in Hutchinson.”

HHS senior completes full International Baccalaureate diploma program  

A series of severe storms rolled across central and western Kansas on Sunday afternoon and into the overnight hours, spawning multiple tornadoes, large hail and dangerous conditions across the region.

The first tornado watch was issued at 3:40 p.m., with a second following at 8:55 p.m., as storm activity intensified throughout the evening.

Two tornadoes were confirmed early in the outbreak: one in Edwards County at 6:30 p.m. and another in Pawnee County just 20 minutes later. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a large and destructive tornado was spotted by trained weather spotters about nine miles south of Greensburg in Kiowa County.

At 9:57 p.m., the National Weather Service office in Dodge City issued a tornado emergency for Greensburg as the storm continued to intensify. A second tornado was later reported northwest of Haviland, also in Kiowa County.

By 11 p.m., the storm was tracking through northeast Kiowa County and northwest Pratt County, heading toward Stafford County. A trained spotter confirmed another large tornado north of Cullison.

The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a tornado warning for western Reno County at 11:21 p.m. Just nine minutes later, radar detected debris being lofted 16,000 feet into the air, a clear indicator of a significant tornado.

The tornado remained on the ground past midnight, prompting a tornado emergency for Plevna and additional warnings for northwest Reno County and extending into southern Rice County. By 12:30 a.m., forecasters noted the storm was beginning to weaken and decrease in height. The tornado warning for this storm was cancelled at 12:35 a.m.&nbsp;

Alongside the tornadoes, numerous hail reports came in from across the region. Garden Plain reported 1.25-inch hail at 1 p.m., while Wichita saw 1.75-inch hail near 13th Street and West Street later in the afternoon. That storm system tracked through Harvey and Marion counties, producing ping pong ball-sized hail northwest of Hesston around 2:30 p.m.

Another storm moved across northwestern Rice County, bringing hail measuring between 1.25 and 1.75 inches near Geneseo.

The severe weather threat is expected to continue Monday, with forecasters warning of additional severe storms after 2 p.m. Areas along and east of a line from Anthony through Hutchinson and north to Salina are in a level three risk.&nbsp;

The Hutchinson Engineering Department is moving forward with a range of street, utility and infrastructure projects this spring, city officials said Friday.&nbsp;

The 2025 Arterial Street Project is currently out for bids, with bid opening scheduled for May 27. The work will include milling and overlaying East Third Avenue between Poplar and Plum streets, as well as Airport Road from Fourth Avenue to just north of 11th Avenue. On Lorraine Street, from Avenue B to Fourth Avenue, abandoned railroad tracks will be removed and new bike lanes installed. Repairs and an asphalt overlay are also planned for Avenue B between Washington and Walnut streets, excluding the Main Street intersection. New striping will follow.&nbsp;

In the city’s residential areas, Circle C Paving has completed crack sealing and will begin chip sealing on streets between Monroe and Lorraine, north of 30th Avenue, as part of the 2025 Residential Street Project.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Lift Station Rehabilitation Project is underway at two of five designated sites. CAS Constructors has begun work at lift stations located at East 11th Avenue in the Industrial Park and at Seventh Street and Porter. Additional sites include 19th Terrace, Regency Park and the Shears lift station.&nbsp;

Major progress continues on Phase Two of the Woodie Seat Freeway Project, which spans from the Avenue C bridge to Avenue A. Kansas Concrete has removed the Avenue A bridge and ramps. The contractor is also rebuilding the Avenue B bridge and constructing pavement, curbs, gutters, guardrails and a dirt embankment. A new roundabout is planned at Avenue A, and traffic signals at Avenue A and Adams Street will be upgraded with camera detection. &nbsp;

Work is nearing completion on the West 30th Avenue Reconstruction Project. Procon Construction is reconstructing the corridor between Main and Adams streets, including the intersection at 30th and Adams. A 10-foot trail is being added on the north side of the road. The project is expected to be completed late next week, or by the end of the month at the latest, officials said.&nbsp;

In the Plum Creek Subdivision, APAC Utilities Division is completing construction of a new lift station along East 43rd Avenue, west of Lorraine. Curb and gutter work is finished, and concrete work will be completed next week. Asphalt paving is scheduled for the last week of May.&nbsp;

Finally, the city will use in-house crews to perform ditch maintenance along the northwest relief ditch, from Monterrey Place to Dartmouth and Monroe. Mayor Goss noted that using city staff saves both time and money.&nbsp;

 </figure>MARC JACOBS Hutch PostThe Hutchinson Engineering Department is moving forward with a range of street, utility and infrastructure projects this spring, city officials said Friday.&nbsp;The 2025 Arterial Street Project is currently out for bids, with bid opening scheduled for May 27. The work will include milling and overlaying East Third Avenue between Poplar and Plum streets, as well as Airport Road from Fourth Avenue to just north of 11th Avenue. On Lorraine Street, from Avenue B to Fourth Avenue, abandoned railroad tracks will be removed and new bike lanes installed. Repairs and an asphalt overlay are also planned for Avenue B between Washington and Walnut streets, excluding the Main Street intersection. New striping will follow.&nbsp;In the city’s residential areas, Circle C Paving has completed crack sealing and will begin chip sealing on streets between Monroe and Lorraine, north of 30th Avenue, as part of the 2025 Residential Street Project.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the Lift Station Rehabilitation Project is underway at two of five designated sites. CAS Constructors has begun work at lift stations located at East 11th Avenue in the Industrial Park and at Seventh Street and Porter. Additional sites include 19th Terrace, Regency Park and the Shears lift station.&nbsp;Major progress continues on Phase Two of the Woodie Seat Freeway Project, which spans from the Avenue C bridge to Avenue A. Kansas Concrete has removed the Avenue A bridge and ramps. The contractor is also rebuilding the Avenue B bridge and constructing pavement, curbs, gutters, guardrails and a dirt embankment. A new roundabout is planned at Avenue A, and traffic signals at Avenue A and Adams Street will be upgraded with camera detection. &nbsp;<figure>

Procon Construction is reconstructing the corridor between Main and Adams streets, including the intersection at 30th and Adams. A 10-foot trail is being added on the north side of the road. The project is expected to be completed late next week, or by the end of the month at the latest, officials said.&nbsp;In the Plum Creek Subdivision, APAC Utilities Division is completing construction of a new lift station along East 43rd Avenue, west of Lorraine. Curb and gutter work is finished, and concrete work will be completed next week. Asphalt paving is scheduled for the last week of May.&nbsp;Finally, the city will use in-house crews to perform ditch maintenance along the northwest relief ditch, from Monterrey Place to Dartmouth and Monroe. Mayor Goss noted that using city staff saves both time and money.&nbsp;

Three Hutchinson USD 308 schools will receive new flashing school zone signs this summer, part of a broader effort to improve student safety across the district, Mayor Stacy Goss announced via a Facebook post on Friday.

Hutchinson Middle School 7 on Avenue A, Hutchinson Middle School 8 on Adams Street, and Graber Elementary on 17th Avenue will be the first to receive the upgrades. The signs are set to be installed before students return to class in August.

The mayor also said Hutchinson High School is under consideration for a new school zone and pedestrian crosswalk on Severance Street, modeled after a similar setup near Hutchinson Community College on Plum Street.

The city plans to equip all USD 308 schools with flashing school zone signs over the next three years, installing signs at a rate of three schools per year.

“I commend our staff on their work on the subject, and I know this will make our students' travel safer,” Goss said in the post.

The improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance traffic safety around school campuses.

Kansans with deep agricultural roots have been tapped for influential roles within the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the Trump administration, reflecting a continued emphasis on experience and rural values in federal policymaking, according to Senator Roger Marshall.&nbsp;

Senator Marshall praised the administration’s decision to appoint individuals with strong ties to the land. “I was proud to nominate several people with rich, multi-generational agriculture backgrounds,” Marshall said, highlighting that many of his own former staff members still actively farm or ranch.

Among those appointees is Tucker Stewart, a fourth-generation rancher from Washington County who previously worked with the Kansas Livestock Association. Stewart now serves in a senior advisory role in the USDA, working closely with Secretary Brooke Rollins.

“He’s in her office every day. Whenever I’ve got a USDA question, he’s in there,” Marshall said. “They still run a very active ranch, and he goes back whenever he can to help, especially during their annual bull sale.”

Another Kansan, Ken Selzer, former state insurance commissioner, now holds a top position at the USDA's Risk Management Agency, which oversees crop insurance programs critical to farmers across the Midwest. “He’s doing his best to make sure they’re using sound policy,” said Marshall.&nbsp;

However, as rural areas watch these appointments with interest, some uncertainty looms over potential cutbacks at USDA field offices, particularly those in remote counties. The USDA is considering consolidations and staff reductions as part of a broader federal push to improve efficiency and reduce spending.

“I think the FSA [Farm Service Agency] offices are going to be okay, especially with improvements in technology,” Marshall said. “But we may lose some NRCS [Natural Resources Conservation Service] conservation personnel, especially given the Biden administration’s over-hiring.”

He criticized the federal government's ballooning deficit, pointing to a $2 trillion annual gap between revenue and spending. “The government needs to tighten its belt just like every farm family does,” he said.

He also placed blame for bureaucratic delays on a lack of in-person work in Washington. “Until recently, only 6% of USDA employees were physically in the office. That’s where the logjam has been — not in rural Kansas, but in D.C.”

Despite the uncertainty, Kansas agriculture leaders remain optimistic that their voices are being heard in Washington. “These appointments show we have people at the table who understand what it’s like to live with the policies we make.”

BUHLER, Kan. — Buhler High School dominated its home track Friday, sweeping both the boys and girls team titles at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division III track and field championships with standout performances across sprints, distance races, jumps, and throws.

The Buhler girls piled up 216 points to easily outdistance McPherson (108) and Circle (74) for the team crown. The Crusader boys followed suit, winning the title with 176.5 points ahead of McPherson (100.5) and Circle (76).

Sophomore Lillie Ledford led the charge for Buhler’s girls team, sweeping the 100 meters (12.46), 200 meters (25.81), and 400 meters (1:00.32), while helping the 4x100 relay win in 51.33 seconds. The 4x400 squad capped the night with another gold in 4:11.99. Jenna Lackey and Sofia Spies added a 2-3 finish in the 200, while Spies also placed second in the 100 and third in long jump (16-6.25).

In the field, Buhler went 1-2 in pole vault behind Lackey (9-6) and Khloe Blackwell (9-0), and got a boost from Ava Koster and Ashlynn Gumm, who both cleared 5-0 to tie for second in high jump. Ryan Gotti claimed the javelin title with a throw of 117-0, and Charley Baxter (second in shot put, eighth in javelin) and Aidan Howard (second in discus, fifth in shot) chipped in valuable throws points.

On the boys side, Buhler showcased its hurdle dominance by sweeping the top three in the 110-meter hurdles: Zach Friesen (14.86), Landon Martinez (15.19), and Aidan Anderson (15.89). Martinez later won the 300 hurdles (40.25), with Anderson and Owen Kneisel completing another 1-2-3 finish.

Freshman Garrett Gleason starred in the jumps, winning both high jump (6-0) and long jump (20-1.75), while Max Harmony cleared 13-6 to win pole vault. Buhler also captured the 4x100 relay in 43.80 seconds and took third in both the 4x400 and 4x800.

Gavin Lindahl and Henry Trumpp highlighted the boys distance efforts, finishing first and second in the 3200 and narrowly missing a 1-2 finish in the 1600. Andrew Morgan, Zayden Mendenhall and Samuel Hougham also contributed strong mid-distance efforts in the 800.

🎾 State tennis gets underway today for Hutch Post-area student-athletes

The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of North Monroe just after 1 a.m. Friday. Crews arrived at approximately 1:21 a.m. to find flames engulfing a small single-story home, with heavy fire spreading from the front porch into the attic.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack to contain the blaze, first focusing on the fire outside before moving indoors to extinguish it fully. During the operation, search crews located two residents who had managed to self-evacuate. Both were brought to safety.

The fire, which appears to have originated on the exterior of the home, remains under investigation with the cause still undetermined. One resident was evaluated by Reno County EMS for smoke inhalation and heat exposure. Additionally, one firefighter suffered a hand injury and was transported non-emergency to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officials confirmed that the home was equipped with functioning smoke detectors, which may have played a crucial role in alerting the occupants in time.

BUHLER, Kan. — For Jeff Comer, being honored as the Allen Samuels Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Teacher of the Month for May is more than an award, it’s a meaningful milestone in the place where his journey began. 

A 2000 graduate of Buhler High School, Comer now teaches in the same classrooms that once shaped his own education. &nbsp;

“As a teacher, it’s sometimes a thankless job,” Comer said. “To have just a little bit of recognition was amazing. That’s not why we teach, we do it for the kids, but it’s still very rewarding.”&nbsp;

Now finishing up his eighth year at his alma mater, Comer teaches civics, modern world history and recently added psychology to his course load at Buhler High School. He is currently facilitating Hutchinson Community College’s Psychology course for upperclassmen while working toward the graduate hours required to teach it independently in the future.

“Last year, an awesome teacher here—Tricia Unruh—retired, and she had taught psychology. I actually had her when I was a student,” Comer said. “That sparked my interest. I taught sociology in El Dorado and loved it, so when she retired, I decided to pick it up.”

Comer said he’s been inspired by the mental side of the subject, especially as it connects to sports and student wellness. He plans to spend the summer revamping the psychology curriculum and refining his overall classroom approach.

“I took a few courses on advanced educational psychology and it really changed my perspective on teaching,” he said.

Comer credits his time as a Buhler student for inspiring his path into education.&nbsp;

“At the time I was oblivious to the great mentoring I was receiving,” Comer said. “People like Brian Wilson, Dave Schroeder, Willie Adkins, Chuck Porter and Don Cameron, they all greatly impacted my life and helped lead me to where I am now. I remember leaving Mr. Wilson’s class thinking I wanted to be a teacher.”&nbsp;

He never expected to return to teach in the same halls where he once roamed as a student, but said the opportunity to come back home in 2017 was a blessing.&nbsp;

“When I interviewed with Principal Mike Ellegood, I realized nothing had really changed about Buhler, it’s still about building relationships and providing a great educational experience,” Comer said. “He embodies what Buhler Schools are all about.”&nbsp;

Comer, a 2004 graduate of Kansas State University, has also served as a high school and junior high football official for nearly two decades. He and his wife, Katie (Reade), a 1998 Buhler graduate, have raised their sons in the Buhler school system, continuing the family tradition.&nbsp;

“Both of my children have been and are being impacted by amazing educators and coaches with USD 313,” Comer said. “I really couldn’t imagine doing any other job. I feel God has guided me to be an educator. Through my experiences at Buhler Schools. I hope I can have even half the impact on my students that my teachers had on me.”&nbsp;

Looking ahead, Comer is eager to grow in his new role teaching psychology. He said the transition has rekindled his passion for the classroom.&nbsp;

“I’m spending this summer revamping the psychology curriculum and all my classes, really,” he said. “I’m going to work until the day I stop improving. That’s how I’ll know when it’s time to move on, when I feel like I can’t get better.”&nbsp;

Comer is finishing up his 20th year teaching, a career which began in 2005 at Marysville Jr./Sr., followed by El Dorado High School in 2006, Newton High School in 2010, before returning to Buhler in 2017.&nbsp;

Comer was nominated by BHS staff member, John Clark: "Mr. Comer builds excellent rapport with all of his students. He utilizes inquiry-based instruction in his social studies classes. He allows his students to guide their learning to provide buy-in which engages them in topics about our society. He encourages his students to learn from our history and to make a difference in their future. I have witnessed his students give presentations to the class and I'm amazed at how much they are learning and can communicate about different topics about our history &amp; world!”

Buhler's Jeff Comer returns to roots, earns Teacher of the Month honor

Hourly workers could soon see a boost in take-home pay if legislation introduced by Republican lawmakers, with backing from President Donald Trump, becomes law. The bill would exempt the first $10,000 of annual overtime pay from federal income taxes.

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., a key proponent of the legislation, said the measure is part of a broader push to support blue-collar workers — a demographic he and President Trump say has been left behind by past administrations.

“This is one of President Trump’s promises,” Marshall said during a recent interview. “He asked me to lead on this because he knows I come from a hard-working family. We’re introducing legislation that would make the first $10,000 of overtime completely tax-free. It’s time we reward the people who are literally building America.”

The proposal is aimed at wage and hour workers, from manufacturing employees at Spirit AeroSystems to oil refinery operators and pipeline crews. Marshall said the plan would primarily benefit those earning time-and-a-half pay, allowing them to keep more of their earnings rather than lose a chunk to federal taxes.

“If you’re putting in those extra hours, we think you should get to keep that money,” he said. “It could be worth $2,000 for an individual or up to $4,000 for a family. That’s significant.”

Marshall also linked the legislation to workforce challenges in Kansas and across the country, saying the measure could help alleviate ongoing labor shortages in sectors such as aerospace, agriculture, and manufacturing.

“We don’t have enough people to fill the jobs we have,” he said. “If someone’s willing to put in 50 or 60 hours a week to help drive our economy, we need to recognize and reward that.”

Marshall painted an optimistic picture of the country’s direction under the presidents influence, citing low unemployment, rising stock markets, falling gas prices, and improved border enforcement.

“I’m so bullish on America right now,” he said. “Jobs are coming back. Families are safer. We’re rolling back regulations. We’re putting America first.”

Still, Marshall remains confident that the bill speaks directly to the needs of the American worker.

“It’s about fairness and letting people keep what they earn,” he said. “That’s what this is all about.”

Moundridge senior Kaden Elmore dominated the sprint events, sweeping the 100 (10.98), 200 (23.05), and 400 meters (50.51), while also helping the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the 4x100 relay (44.31). Moundridge added a win in the pole vault from Brayden Elmore (12-6), and Henry Hecox delivered a javelin title with a throw of 178-11.

Trinity Catholic’s boys stood out in the distance events, led by Jacob Lindstrom’s third-place finish in the 3200 (10:25.05) and fourth-place effort in the 1600. The Celtics won the 4x800 relay (8:38.63) and took third in both the 4x100 and 4x400. Isaac Hammersmith added a league title in the high jump (6-4) and placed third in the long jump.

Inman’s Gage Sisson and Tyler Jerrick placed fourth and seventh in the triple jump, respectively. Malachi Brunk ran fourth in the 200 and also placed in the 300 hurdles, while Bo O’Neil placed third in the discus (140-3). Inman took sixth in both the 4x800 and 4x400 relays.

Sterling’s Zane Farney was the standout in the hurdles, capturing titles in both the 110 (15.40) and 300 (40.67). Inman senior Katie Nichols leading the charge by capturing titles in both the high jump and long jump. Nichols cleared 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump and posted a mark of 17-2.5 in the long jump.

Suttyn Harris also boosted the Teutons with a runner-up finish in the triple jump (34-3) and a league title in the shot put (36-0). Inman dominated the throws, as Taylor Froese won the discus at 121-4 and placed second in the shot, while Morgan Froese and Allison Schrag added top-five marks in the discus.

Moundridge’s girls brought home multiple event wins, highlighted by a first-place 4x800-meter relay (10:13.68) and 4x400 relay (4:09.15). Avery Schrag and Baylee Schriner posted top-five finishes in the 400, while Cammi Unruh earned third in the long jump (16-4.5) and Hattie Hecox was third in the triple jump (33-1). Aspyn Stos and Brie Moddelmog also placed among the top in the throws.

Sterling’s Julia Kilgore earned a sprint double, taking gold in both the 200 (25.86) and 400 (57.12). Freshman Karis Dillard added a top-eight finish in the 100 and 200. Lydia Webb represented Sterling in the throws and placed 11th in the javelin.

Trinity Catholic was led by Eilley Cost, who took third in the discus and 12th in the shot put. Alyssa Guajardo placed eighth in the long jump and competed in the sprints, while Clara Robinson cleared 4-4 in the high jump.

Central Christian's Jayden Linscheid led the Cougars with a first place finish in the high jump at 6 feet even and also took the top spot in the long jump (18-5). Cal Barnett had a consistent day with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters (12.25) and third in the 200 meters (25.29). The Cougars' 4x100-meter relay team placed fourth in 47.64 seconds, while Konnor Sullivan grabbed runner-up honors in both the 110 hurdles (16.53) and 300 hurdles (43.56). In the field, Keaton Miller won the shot put at 48-5 and added a runner-up finish in discus (128-6). Teammate Hunter Franz placed sixth in the shot and 10th in discus, while Piercen Huff threw 129-4 in the javelin for fourth.

Burrton's Isaac Jones was a bright spot for the Chargers, placing fourth in both the 1600 (5:03.74) and 3200 (10:56.27) meter runs. Noble Phillips finished third in the 300 hurdles (45.67) and anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a fourth-place finish. Justin Ballard placed 10th in the 100 meters, while Ryker Barnes ran legs on both the 4x400 and 4x800 teams. Colt Schmitt added points with a 16th-place discus mark of 91-11 and 18th in the shot put. Burrton’s 4x800 relay team placed fifth in 9:47.38.

Fairfield's William McIver turned in a strong 800 meters with a fourth-place finish in 2:12.14. Gage Brown added points with a seventh in the 1600 and helped the Falcons place fourth in the 4x800 relay (9:45.81). Garrett Lanning highlighted the day in the field, winning the javelin at 151-6 and placing third in both the shot put (44-0) and discus (136-11). Kaiyen Lobban and Jalen Busick contributed in the triple jump and long jump respectively, each placing in the top eight.

Pretty Prairie's Carter Stucky qualified for finals in the 100 and placed sixth in the 200 (26.34). Emmett Harbaugh finished sixth in the 800 (2:14.33) and tied for fourth in the high jump (5-8). She also anchored the Cougars’ gold-medal 4x400 relay, which clocked 4:20.77, which broke the school record of 4:23.4 from 2001. Central Christian teammate Belle Barnett added runner-up finishes in the 100 and 200 and placed second in the high jump at 5-2. Addi Loudenback earned a hurdles sweep with wins in the 100 (17.42) and 300 (49.45), while also contributing on relays.
