⚾ Bugner and Gustafson homer, Monarchs win third straight

KINGMAN, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs won their third consecutive game on Thursday night, defeating the Kingman Islanders 13-2 in seven innings. This marks the second straight night the Monarchs beat the Islanders via run-rule.

Hutchinson (19-16) scored two in the second, one in the third and then blew the game open with a seven-run fourth inning. 

Drew Bugner, Will Edmunson, Max Buettenback, Jaden Gustafson and Blake Bradford all had multi-hit nights. Bugner and Gustafson both homered in the win and drove in a team-high two runs.

Brady Beverman went five innings and earned the win for the Monarchs on the mound, while Brady Bell tossed two scoreless innings of relief. 

MonRay Van der Walt had the lone multi-hit game for Kingman (13-24).

The Monarchs will look to close out the series with a sweep, as they play in Kingman on Friday night at 7 p.m. Hutchinson will close out the regular season on Saturday night in Derby against the Twins.
