HUTCHINSON, Kan. — City of Hutchinson Human Resources director Tom Sanders is using outside help to try to find a temporary replacement for Ryan Hvitlok, after the Planning and Zoning director left for a job in Illinois.
"We've engaged a couple of firms to search to see if we can find an interim director," Sanders said. "We're not looking to fill that position until we get that City Manager position filled. We really feel like that person should be selecting that department head."
A local, experienced voice is helping for now.
"We've got Jim Seitnater, who worked for us for years in the downtown development and planning area. He's kind of keeping the doors open right now and handling day-to-day stuff. We're looking for someone who can add additional expertise on the more technical aspects of planning."
Hvitlok had been in Hutchinson almost three years, starting with the city in 2019.
