HUTCHINSON, Kan. — David Foster with the Hutchinson YMCA told Hutch Post that the date is firm for the ceremonial groundbreaking on the new Y.
"We are going to do that December 4th at 2 p.m. and we'll actually be at the new YMCA site which as you know is near the corner of 20th and Lorraine in that open field over there," Foster said.
They won't be able to start right away, most likely, because of the winter weather.
"It will be somewhat ceremonial till it warms back up a little bit," Foster said. "We can start moving some dirt and doing some other things over there which will be really exciting and we'll have some renderings of what the new Y will look like inside and out and it will just be a great time to get everybody excited and that aren't already excited and on board about it that'll be a great time to get that project officially kicked off."
The hope is to get the work done in about 18 months, once they start.
