John L. Schultz, 89, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler. He was born on August 1, 1931, at Hillsboro, KS., the son of John and Lena (Loewen) Schultz.

He attended schools at Lehigh, KS.

John worked as an auto salesman with Shep Chevrolet at Haven, KS. for 24 years before his retirement. During retirement he sold glider rockers at Adrian’s A-Z Furniture in Buhler, KS.

John was united in marriage to Viola Ruth “Vi” Funk on November 8, 1952, at Hillsboro. She survives.

He was a man of strong faith and was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. John had a love for cars, motorcycles, and sports.

He is survived by his wife, Vi, of Buhler; daughter, Donna Hensley and her husband Allan of Nampa, ID.; son, Darrell Schultz and his wife Christi of Buhler; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra “Debbie” Maberry and her husband Dave; sister, Alma Warkentin and her husband Albert; two brothers, Harry Schultz and his wife Bertha, LeRoy Schultz and his wife Lila.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Buhler MB Church. Private burial will take place at Buhler Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Buhler Mortuary, the family will be present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Meadows or Harry Hynes Hospice in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, Kansas 67522.
