HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The United Way's 2021 campaign kicked off Monday.
"Our theme for the campaign this year is Raise Your Hand," said Lisa Gleason with the United Way of Reno County. "We're asking people, it's really a call to action to step up and be willing to raise your hand for what's really important to you."
Community involvement is what is important to Amy and Ben Kraft from Kraft Electric, the 2021 campaign chairs.
"We're all about giving back to the community and each of us do our part right here in our own area," said Amy Kraft. "We know each of us can make a difference one by one and keeping local people in business. Keeping people employed is so important in our community."
Ben Kraft added that its the support of Kraft Electric that has allowed it to be successful, so they want to give back.
"If someone in our community was just willing to give $1 a paycheck, I guarantee you if all the employees did it here in Reno County, we would more than aptly make our goal, which is $1,160,000 this year," Gleason said.
That goal is slightly above what was raised last year, but Gleason is confident that the same community that was so generous during the pandemic will continue to be now.
