Kan. deputies catch drug suspect driving stolen pickup

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges following a traffic stop.

Just after 11a.m. April 1, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a black 1995 Mazda pickup truck in the 3000 block of SE Croco Road, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

The driver’s side windshield was smashed. The truck came back stolen, according to the Topeka Police Department.

During the investigation, deputies located illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. They also arrested the driver, Christopher J. Obier, 33, of Topeka.

He was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, driving without a valid license and obstructed windshield, according to Christian.
