SBA Makes Low-Interest Disaster Loans Available for Kansas Businesses, Nonprofits Impacted by Drought
The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans for eligible Kansas small businesses and private nonprofit organizations affected by drought conditions that began May 5.
The assistance is available to eligible organizations in 27 Kansas counties, including Reno, Rice, McPherson, Harvey, Pratt, Kingman, and Stafford counties.
Eligible applicants include small businesses, private nonprofit and faith-based organizations, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries and small aquaculture enterprises.
The SBA's Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides working capital to help organizations meet ordinary operating expenses that cannot be paid because of the disaster. Loan amounts are available up to $2 million. Interest rates are as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations, with repayment terms of up to 30 years. The SBA also says borrowers will not be required to make payments or pay interest during the first 12 months after loan disbursement.
Applications are available online at sba.gov/disaster. The deadline to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans is March 10, 2027.
