Ricky Lynn Nelson, 66, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m., Friday, September 3rd, at his residence.

Ricky was born in McPherson, Kansas on August 15, 1955, a son of Lila Darlene (Weaver) and Marvin Leroy Nelson.

Rick attended Lincoln Elementary, Park School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1974.

Through the years Ricky worked for Emerson Chisholm moving mobile homes, drove truck for the Roth Ice Plant, Farmland Industries, several construction companies in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas and was a self employed contractor.

Rick enjoyed softball, archery, golf, hunting, fishing, and excelled at all of them.

He is survived by Gerry Vance, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Lisa Nelson (Travis), of Harrisonville, MO, Ret. DV SGT. Shawon Nelson of Livingston, Texas, Kasey Nelson, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Kascie Nelson-Taylor and husband Nick, of Omaha, Nebraska; his brother, Dennis Nelson, of McPherson, Kansas; his five grandchildren, Hayden, Jeffrey, Ivy-Jane, Kruz, and Lainey; bonus daughter, Diana Pennington; other relatives and his beloved canine companions, Bo, Roxy, Buster and a score of cats.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Darlene Nelson; and his twin brothers, Gary and Jerry Nelson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 24 at from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th, 2021.
