
HUTCHINSON, Kan.— A hearing is set for Monday, December 14 at which time formal charges are expected to be brought against a Hutchinson woman who was arrested following a fatality accident south of Hutchinson Saturday evening.
Thirty-one-year-old Viola Rhodes made her first appearance in Reno County District Court on Monday. She faces potential charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, DUI and illegal transportation.
Rhodes was driving an SUV with seven passengers in the 3400 block of South Yoder Rd.when the vehicle went out of control and rolled around 11:40 Saturday evening.
One person was ejected from the vehicle and all suffered injuries in the accident. Two people were taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where one of them died later.
During her first appearance, Rhodes requested a reduction in her bond which was lowered to $200,000. Monday’s hearing is set for 9:30 a.m.
