Sharon Kay Gilbert-Nelson, 77, passed away on 27th day of May, 2022 in Haysville, Kansas. She was born in Wichita, to Kenneth Richard Newton and Esther (Graham) Newton.
She was a life long resident of Wichita, and was a 1962 graduate of Wichita High School East. After Graduation she married George Robert Gilbert Jr on August 16, 1962 until he passed June 2, 2010. They had 3 daughters Shelly Gilbert-Smith, Sandra Schlicher, and Melinda Offield. She lived her remaining years with her best friend and partner Bill Nelson.
Sharon was a member of Tops in Valley Center, Red Hats Society, and Haysville Horticulture Group. She enjoyed gardening, painting, camping, fishing, and being around family and friends.
She is preceeded in death by her parents Kenneth R Newton and Esther M Newton, her brother Jim Newton and spouse George Robert Gilbert Jr.
Sharon is survived by her spouse Bill Nelson; children Shelly Gilbert-Smith, Sandra Schlicher (Michael), and Melinda Offield (William); grandchildren Krista Galloway, Troy Galloway, Kennth Galloway, Ashley Swanson, Branda Horsch, LeAnn Rivera, Samantha Offield, Cassady Schlicher, Dakotah Gilbert, Logan Offield, Aislan Ortiz, Kayden Offield, Brooklynn Schlicher, Daniel Schlicher, and Avelynn Schlicher; and many great grandchildren with 4 due this year.
Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 1, at West Haysville Baptist Church, 141 N. Lamar, Haysville.
