HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The COVID-19 case numbers continue to rise in Reno County, while the death rate has decreased in recent months.
As of Thursday's report, there are 397 cases in Reno County. That's the highest case count since we were at 399 on February 1.
The 14-day positive test rate as of August 25 is at 20.4%. That's the highest positive test rate since mid-January.
There are 10 Reno County residents hospitalized as of Thursday.
8,140 of the 8,682 cases in Reno County have recovered, for a recovery rate of 93.7%. There have been 145 documented deaths attributed to COVID-19. That's a death rate of 1.6% since the beginning of the pandemic. The other 4.6% of cases are currently active.
The death rate has dropped in recent months, however. Only six deaths have been reported from April 30 to August 25 with 986 cases active since then, so the death rate for that period has been 0.6%.
