Chester L. Unruh, 87, died Monday, October 19, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas. He was born October 23, 1932 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Abraham and Sarah (Holdeman) Unruh.

He was united in marriage to LaVerna Schmidt on March 16, 1962 in Hillsboro.  She survives of the home.

He was a member of the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Hesston, Kansas.

Chester was a farmer and custom cutter.  He was employed at Hay and Forage Industries of Hesston for 27 years as a fabricator.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerna of Moundridge; daughters, Cheryl (Embert) Koehn of New Plymouth, Idaho, Karen Unruh of Moundridge, and Kathy (Leonard) Martin of Sumner, Texas; son, Arlin (Jeanette) Unruh of Hesston; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Erma Unruh of Sharon Springs and Dorothy Unruh of Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; eight brothers; and a son-in-law.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Hesston. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020, at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
