CITY OF HUTCHINSON

Recent rainfall has prompted a temporary traffic change at the intersection of 30th Avenue and Plum Street as the City of Hutchinson prepares for a scheduled water valve replacement project later this week.

City officials said saturated ground conditions have prevented crews from staging equipment in the work area adjacent to the intersection. To allow equipment to be positioned safely, westbound traffic on the north side of 30th Avenue has been temporarily closed.

Motorists traveling westbound are being detoured south on Plum Street to 17th Avenue, west on 17th Avenue to Main Street, and north on Main Street back to 30th Avenue.

The temporary closure will remain in place only as long as equipment is needed in the roadway. Once staging operations are complete, the westbound lane will reopen to traffic.

The valve replacement project remains scheduled for this week. City officials encourage motorists to follow posted detours and use caution when traveling through the area.
