⚾ Salthawks fall in regional semifinal to Tigers

WICHITA, Kan. — Hutchinson High School fell to Eisenhower 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the Class 5A regional held at Adams Field at Westurban Baseball complex. 

The loss ends the Salthawks' season at 15-12. The Tigers advance to the regional championship game, where they will face the winner of Bishop Carroll and Goddard.

Eisenhower broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a Hutchinson error before Isiah Lyons, Christian Guerra and Colton Doll each delivered RBI hits to make it 3-0. Lyons singled to center, Guerra doubled down the left field line, and Doll followed with a single in the same direction.

Cole Adams earned the win for Eisenhower, allowing one hit and two runs (one earned) over 6 2/3 innings. Adams was relieved with two outs in the top of the seventh after throwing the maximum number of pitches allowed. He struck out seven and walked three.

Jack Davis took the loss for Hutchinson, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits over five innings. He struck out three and walked three.

Caiden Beavers drove in one of Hutchinson’s two runs. Jack Yoder had the Salthawks’ only hit, going 1-for-3. The one hit recorded by the Salthawks ended a stretch of 15 1/3 innings without a hit going back to the second game of a doubleheader against Maize. 

Eisenhower totaled nine hits, with Lyons and Doll each collecting two. Lyons, Guerra and Doll each recorded an RBI.
