Michael D. Ray, 71, passed away on October 20, 2020, at his home in Hutchinson, KS. He was born October 4, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Bascom “Bud” and Peggy Jean (Johnson) Collins.

Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Hutchinson. He later opened his own mechanic shop called MD Ray’s Auto Hospital and later retired in 1995. After retiring he immediately un-retired and opened The Shop, a gaming shop for kids of all ages and successfully ran it until his second retirement in 2008. Mike was married to Pamela Wait for over 30 years. Mike read his bible every day and was a great follower and believer in Jesus Christ and God. He was known for his honesty and truthfulness. He will be greatly missed.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Luis Perez.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; step-daughter, Amanda (Mark) James; step-son, Samuel Palmatier, both of Hutchinson; sisters, Cris Serviss of Wichita, Bonnie (Cecil) Chambers and Terry Perez, both of Hutchinson; brothers, Bill (Edda) Collins of Abbyville, Timothy (Tina) Collins of Oklahoma and James Collins of Hutchinson; grandson, Korben Craigg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Victor Halfmoon officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Hutchinson Humane Society or Reno County Veterans Memorial and can be sent in care of the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family asks that masks be worn at visitation and graveside service.
