HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson firefighters at the Mullen Fire gave their home department an update on Sunday.
According to a Facebook post from the department, the fire is at over 175,000 acres. Over 1200 firefighters are working the fire, approximately 40 miles southwest of Laramie, Wyoming.
To give an idea of the size, the entire response area for Hutchinson Fire is about 69,000 acres. The Mullen Fire is well over twice that large. It is just over one-quarter contained.
The crew continues to assist with burn out operations and structure protection.
