Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton will again serve as a national championship venue after the National Junior College Athletic Association announced Thursday that the course will host the NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship in 2028 and 2030.

The NJCAA said the 2027 and 2029 championships will be played at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas, while Sand Creek Station will welcome the event back to Kansas in alternating years through 2030.

Sand Creek Station has previously hosted the national tournament four times and was selected once again as part of the NJCAA’s long-term championship rotation.

“Sand Creek Station is honored to be selected once again to host the Men’s Division I National Championship in 2028 and 2030,” general manager Dustin Housh said in a statement. “This prestigious event is one we have proudly hosted four times, and it continues to be a true showcase of the championship-level quality of our golf course and the strong partnership of the City of Newton and the NJCAA.”

NJCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee chair Josh Gooch said both sites will provide strong championship tests for the nation’s top junior college golfers.

“The Division I Men’s Golf Committee is proud to have secured two great golf courses to host the Men’s Division I Golf Championships through 2030,” Gooch said. “Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas, and Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas, will be great tests for the best in NJCAA Men’s Division I Golf.”

Located in Newton, Sand Creek Station is known as one of Kansas’ premier public golf facilities. The course stretches beyond 7,200 yards from the back tees and features multiple holes along Sand Creek, with natural water features, tree-lined fairways and varying wind conditions that create a demanding championship layout.

The NJCAA, founded in 1938, is the national governing body for two-year collegiate athletics and oversees more than 500 member schools, 3,400 teams and 57 national championships and invitationals annually.
