EDMOND, Oklahoma – Sophomore Hugo Duquaine shot a 6-under-par 134 over the first round rounds to lead the No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team on Monday at the NCAA Division II Skip Wagnon Classic.
The Blue Dragons shot rounds of 276 and 272 on the par-70 Kicking Bird Golf Club course. The Blue Dragons 548 team total is 12-under par. The Dragons trail team leader Central Oklahoma by 26 strokes. UCO blistered their home course with a pair of 19-under 261s on Monday.
The Blue Dragons are the only NJCAA team in the field. Oklahoma Christian is second at 541 (269-272). Arkansas Tech is third at 542 (269-273).
The final round is Tuesday morning.
Duquaine shot rounds of 69 and 65 to lead the Blue Dragons through the first two rounds. His 134 total is tied for 11th. Duquaine trails individual leader Nicholas Canales by eight strokes. Canales had rounds of 62 and 64 for a 14-under total of 126.
Freshman Charlie Rusbridge is tied for 17th at 4-under 136. Rusbridge had rounds of 70 and 66 on Monday.
Freshman Grant Labuschagne, who is playing with the team for the first time this fall, is tied for 29th at 2-under 138. Labuschagne carded rounds of 69 and 71.
Sophomore Grant Hatzenbuehler shot an even-par 140 on Monday to tie for 40th after two rounds. Hatzenbuehler had rounds of 69 and 71.
Freshman Harry Richmond posted rounds of 73 and 72 to finish at 5-over 145, which is tied for 73rd.
