Surge split two with San Antonio Thursday

Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge split a double-header with the San Antonio Missions on Thursday night behind twelve hits led by Cole Sturgeon and Austin Martin to take the series lead. San Antonio won game one 11-4 and the Wind Surge rallied for their 17th come from behind win in game two winning 7-4.

Cole Sturgeon gave Wichita the lead in the fifth inning in game two as he hit a two-run RBI single to put the Surge up front 3-2. Sturgeon finished the night four for nine with three RBIs.

The Surge scored four runs in the sixth as Edouard Julien hit a two-run RBI single to give the Surge a 6-4 lead. Austin Martin went two for three with an RBI in the game two victory.

The Surge scored two runs in the fifth and sixth innings in game one as Edouard Julien hit an RBI-double to score Austin Martin and Matt Wallner walked with the bases loaded to extend the Wichita lead to 4-1.

The Missions broke the game open in the eighth inning as they scored seven runs behind a Connor Kaiser three-run inside-the-park homerun to give San Antonio a 7-4 lead. Thomas Milone kept the bats hot for San Antonio as he hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning that gave the Missions a commanding 11-4 lead to take game one of the double-header.

The Wind Surge will resume play against the San Antonio Missions Friday, June 24th for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
