
Several area athletes will compete for state titles this weekend as the Kansas State High School Activities Association Girls Tennis Championships begin today and continue Saturday at four sites across the state.

Class 5A — Topeka
Hutchinson High senior Layni Hagley (12) qualified for the Class 5A tournament at Kossover Tennis Center with a 12-16 record.
Class 4A — Prairie Village
Buhler, McPherson and Hesston are well represented at the Class 4A tournament at Harmon Park Tennis Complex.
Buhler’s Sofia Spies (10) enters singles play at 24-6, joined by teammate Gabriella Gillespie (9) at 19-11. McPherson’s Maryn Sandbo (12) carries a 27-5 singles record, while Mayson Wiens (9) is 14-3. From Hesston, Aubrey Koehn (11) and Laine Widener (9) both qualified in singles with marks of 18-11 and 17-9, respectively.
In doubles, Buhler’s Emily Allen (11) and Kylee Bradshaw (12) take a 22-12 record into competition. McPherson features two pairs — Quinn Liebl (10) and Avery Unruh (11) (28-3) along with Lleyton Kuhn (9) and Alexandria Rodriguez (11) (11-1). Hesston’s doubles teams include Elyse Griffin (12) and Sage Bartel (9) (18-5), and Caroline Yoder (12) with Candice Tolle (11) (15-10).
Class 3-1A — Salina
At the Salina Tennis Center, Haven and Sterling will compete in Class 3-1A. Haven’s Kensie Popp (11) enters singles play at 13-8, while Sterling senior Chelsie Brown (12) brings an undefeated 29-0 mark.
In doubles, Haven’s Bayleigh Minnis (12) and Karlee Cooprider (12) are 14-10, and Sterling’s Jaiden Jaeger (12) and Danika Zimmerman (11) hold a 24-5 record.
