Our loving sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Marlita Dawn Whipple, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born May 12, 1956 in Ness City, Kansas to Earl and Verna Whipple.

Marlita grew up in Stafford, Kansas, the oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1974. Afterwards, she attended Adela Hale Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas. She worked for Collingwood Grain before moving to Wichita. Over the years, Marlita did office work for various companies including Koch Industries and Purina. Later on, she moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed with Caliber Home Loans Mortgage Company as a Cash Operations Specialist. Throughout her professional life, she touched many people and developed many lasting friendships.

Marlita had a true love of God and family. Being the oldest sibling, Marlita was our information hub, which suited her well as she enjoyed talking on the phone. She was also a good listener. She took a genuine interest in her loved ones’ daily lives. She liked to read and watch movies. Marlita loved playing cards and board games with friends and relatives. She also enjoyed following college and professional football and basketball teams.

Marlita was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Verna Whipple.

She is survived by: sister, Earlene Byler (Doug) of Mustang, OK; brother, Douglas Whipple (Holly) of Apache Junction, AZ; brother, Dan Whipple of Oklahoma City, OK; her sister, Shirley Humes (Todd) of Hutchinson, KS; six nieces and nephews, Josh, Jeremy, and Justin Byler, Dena Whipple, Tori and Austin Humes; and six great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in the future when it is safe to do so.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
