Crews from Reno County Fire District 3, Buhler Fire and the Hutchinson Fire Department battled a fire in Nickerson
About 12:30 p.m. on Monday crews were dispatched to the 500 block of North Peabody Street in Nickerson. Initial crews to arrive on the scene found an attached garage that was fully involved.
Crews attempted to enter the garage to fight the fire but were forced to withdraw due to a roof collapse.
Mutual aid was dispatched from Reno County Fire District 8 plus an engine from Hutchinson Fire. The fire was brought under control in just over an hour.
The residence was unoccupied and there were no injuries. Reno County EMS was dispatched to assist with rehab.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
