
Hutchinson Fire responded to a structure fire in the 400 BLK of Urban Street this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. First arriving crews found a small single-story structure with smoke rolling out of the attic vents. Crews forced entry into the home and were meet with heavy smoke and heat. Due to heat and visibility, crews had to back out of the structure and readjust tactics. The fire was found in the center of the home and it had extended to the attic and crawl space. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. Weather conditions hampered fire extinguishment. Fire crews had to work with windy conditions and 102-degree heat. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. Investigators are still working the scene.
