Dallas Lee Jones, 90, died November 9, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village. He was born August 31, 1931, in Hutchinson, to James W. and Daisy (Tomlin) Jones.

Dallas served four years in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he earned both a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.  He became a fireman in 1957, serving as Hutchinson Fire Chief for 20 years, prior to his retirement in 1996.  Dallas was also instrumental in starting the Fire Science program at Hutchinson Community College.  He was a member of International Fire Chiefs, Kansas Fire Chiefs, and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.  In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling with the “Super Seniors” and “Silver Toppers”, and volunteering at The Salvation Army.

On August 15, 1959, he married June Linhart, in Hutchinson. 

Dallas is survived by:  his wife of over 62 years, June of Hutchinson; sons, Dale Jones (Janice) of Wichita, and Terry Jones (Kathy) of Halstead; grandchildren, Matthew Jones of Boonville, MO, Jake Jones of Wichita, Logan Jones of Chicago, IL, and Sarah Ronnfeldt of Boonville, MO; and three great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by:  his father, James Jones; his mother, Daisy Zinn; brother, Robert W. Jones; and sisters, Joy Starks, Jean Hubard, and Barbara Leonard.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd, Hutchinson, with Terry Jones officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The casket will remain closed.
