HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Daylight saving time is next weekend.
November 7th you turn your clocks back and gain an hour. How can you spend that extra hour? By changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon dioxide detectors! Doing it when you spring forward and fall back is a great way to remember to change the batteries twice a year as you should in your detectors.
The Hutchinson Fire Department received a grant from Energizer and got 4 cases of batteries. If you stop at any one of the Hutchinson Fire HFD fire stations they will give you enough batteries, either 9 volt or AA batteries, to replace the batteries in up to 3 detectors.
If the crew isn't there at the time please come back later. They will also be able to answer questions about detector placement and lifespan if you have any.
