HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System has announced two executive leadership appointments, naming Sharon Jeffers as chief financial officer and promoting Jim Black to chief human resources officer.

The appointments, announced Tuesday, are aimed at strengthening the health system's financial operations and workforce development efforts.

Jeffers brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience to Hutchinson Regional. She most recently served as assistant chief financial officer and system director of budgeting and financial planning at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.

During her time at Stormont Vail, Jeffers helped oversee financial planning for the $1.2 billion health care system and led initiatives that resulted in more than $5 million in cost savings.

Before joining Stormont Vail, Jeffers spent more than 17 years at Denver Health, holding leadership positions in financial operations, business development and strategic planning.

As chief financial officer, Jeffers will oversee financial operations and strategic financial planning throughout Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System.

"I'm excited to join Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System and contribute to an organization with such a strong commitment to its community," Jeffers said. "Financial stewardship plays an important role in ensuring patients have access to the care they need, close to home."

Black, who assumed his new position in September, joined Hutchinson Regional in October 2024 as vice president of human resources.

He brings more than 30 years of human resources leadership experience, including previous leadership roles with Walmart, T-Mobile and Ascension.

In his expanded role, Black will continue overseeing the health system's human resources strategy, focusing on employee recruitment and retention, organizational culture and professional development.

"Our team members are at the heart of everything we do," Black said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this organization in an expanded leadership capacity."

Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System President and CEO Benjamin Anderson said both appointments will help position the organization for the future.

"The strength of our healthcare system depends on both the people who deliver care and the resources that make that care possible," Anderson said. "Sharon and Jim bring extensive experience and proven leadership in these two critical areas."

Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System serves Reno County and surrounding communities through Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Health-E-Quip, Horizons Mental Health Center, Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County and the Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation.
