NEWTON, Kan. — The Newton City Commission voted Tuesday night to extend its management agreement with KemperSports for Sand Creek Station Golf Course, ensuring the nationally recognized facility will continue under the same leadership through at least 2032.

Under the renewed agreement, the City of Newton will continue to provide oversight and strategic guidance, while KemperSports remains responsible for staffing, marketing, business strategy, and day-to-day operations. The company has managed Sand Creek Station since the course opened in 2006.

The updated contract outlines a fixed management fee of $106,408.68 beginning in 2027, with a built-in annual increase of 3%. In addition, KemperSports will receive an incentive fee equal to 5% of gross revenues exceeding $2.2 million.

City leaders pointed to the course’s strong financial and operational performance as a key factor in the extension. In 2025, Sand Creek Station recorded its second-highest revenue total on record, generating just over $2 million while hosting 36,646 rounds of golf.

During the meeting, Sand Creek Station General Manager Dustin Housh and KemperSports Regional Operations Executive TJ Wydner expressed appreciation to the Commission for its continued trust, highlighting the role of community support in the course’s ongoing success.

Sand Creek Station has consistently earned national recognition as one of the top public golf courses in the country and has received numerous awards for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Sand Creek Station is slated to host the NJCAA Men's Division I Golf Championships in 2026, 2028 and 2030.
