Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the 100 block of West 1st on the north side.
The building at 108 W. 1st Ave. was built right around 1920 and was a string of automobile dealers for 72 years.
It started as Superior Motors and was an Oakland car dealership. The first photo shows that dealership during the 1929 flood along with the Gage-Hall Clinic at 100 W. 1st Ave.

After that time, it was the Herford Motors, Arnold Motors and Knightly Motors until 1947 when it became the Bevan Motor Co. owned by Lester, Mary and Charles Bevan. They sold Mercedes-Benz products.
In 1960, it became the Bevan-Piper Motor Co. owned by Charles Bevan and Richard Piper. The second photo shows that time line of ownership.

In 1965, the business reverted to Bevan Motors, with son Clark entering into the ownership. The third photo shows that time line of ownership in 1977.

Bevan closed in 1986, with Dwight Thomas and Jeff O'Neal succeeding that.
In 1994, Gary Morford started Kansas Glass there with the ownership transferring to Jeff Pennick about 2001. The fourth photo shows what the last iteration of Kansas Glass looked like not too long ago.

The fifth photo shows the building at 108 W. 1st today, now the personal residence of Jeff & Brenda Pennick.
