Hutchinson, KS – United Way Community Work Day is an opportunity to come together in groups large and small to volunteer and do hands on projects for local non-profits and seniors that need assistance.
The United Way has over 500 volunteers helping with 26 projects throughout Reno County this year.
The volunteers will paint houses for Brush Up Hutch, clean up Carey Park, work at the Boys and Girls Club, paint at Salvation Army, Arlington and Buhler as well as work at the Early Education Center.
The Community Work Day will start with the annual breakfast at DCI park at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28th. The volunteers will then start at their project site by 8:30 that morning.
The Community Work Day precedes United Way of Reno County’s kick off of the annual fundraising campaign. On Monday, August 30th an event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Crosspoint Church parking lot on 30th. Food trucks will be on site selling their products and will give a portion of the proceeds to the United Way campaign.
This year, United Way's goal is to help raise $1,160,000 for local nonprofits with the theme Raise Your Hand.
Anyone can give either in person at the event, text #GiveUnited to 44321 or go online at https://www.unitedwayofrenocounty.org/donate.
