HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council has approved Gary Meagher to serve as interim city manager, effective immediately.

Meagher brings more than three decades of local government experience and is familiar with both Hutchinson and Reno County. He previously served as Hutchinson’s interim city manager in 2022 and spent 10 years as Reno County administrator.

Meagher will lead city operations during the transition as the City Council determines its next steps in selecting a permanent city manager.

“The City of Hutchinson has an experienced and dedicated team of professionals who remain focused on serving our community,” Mayor Scott Meggers said. “Gary brings a tremendous amount of local government experience and familiarity with Hutchinson, and we are confident in his ability to help lead the organization during this transition.”

The appointment comes after the city formally accepted the resignations of City Manager Enrico Villegas and City Attorney Cody Smith.
