HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 2021 Bretz Injury Law Poker Run to benefit the Reno County Veterans Memorial is scheduled for Saturday, September 11.
"We thought it was a perfect day to do it," said Matt Bretz of Bretz Injury Law. "This poker run is in support of the veterans memorial wall and it seemed fitting to do it specifically on 9-11, with the number of vets and law enforcement that participated, certainly last year and we anticipate participating again this year."
Kelly Danyluk with the Veterans Memorial says they are still working on adding names that may not have been on the initial list.
"We put all the granite panels up and there was about 14,000 names engraved at that time," Danyluk said. "We're currently still collecting names. We've collected some that maybe missed the first run or maybe we had a few errors, but we're trying to get everything collected and all the people that missed out to get on there now. I currently have about 285 names in our database. We're looking for another 30 to fill that first wall that we'll have engraved and hopefully this fall, we'll get that done."
Casey Ensz, director of marketing and intake for Bretz Law was the event organizer.
"That Saturday morning, it starts at 8 a.m. with registration," Ensz said. "It's $25 per hand. We'll get kickstands up at about 9 a.m. We will have a last rider. We're expecting it to take about two to two and a half hours to complete the whole round. We'll have donuts and coffee to begin with and when you get back, we'll have Mi Tierra catering it."
You can still sign up that morning, but if you have questions, you can call Ensz at (620) 860-1761.
