Avanel Elizabeth Allison, 89, died November 21, 2020, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born February 1, 1931, to Charles and Minnie Eliza (Rodeman) Hardwick.

Avanel attended grade school and middle school in Hutchinson, graduating from Hutchinson High School. For a short period of time, she worked at the Greensburg State Bank, but her most important role was that of a wife, mom, and grandmother. Avanel enjoyed camping, water skiing, trail rides, snow skiing, and vacationing with her family. Photography was her passion. Avanel and her late husband, Ray, enjoyed square dancing with the Kiowa County Kickers. She was a member of Greensburg Mennonite Church.

On June 3, 1951, she married Louis ‘Ray’ Allison in Hutchinson. He died June 21, 2014, after sharing 63 years of marriage.

Those left to carry on the Allison family traditions are: daughter, Sharon Allison of Greensburg; grandchildren, Morgan Vieux (Jateice), Ali Emley (Jason), Taylor Schmidt (Jeff), Alana Barkley (Scott), and Lane Allison (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Ryker and Aveta Vieux, Claire, Nate, and Hannah Emley, Bo, Cole and Lyla Barkley; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Ediger (who was part of Avanel’s life since she and her late husband, Alan, were in high school).

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Allison; sisters, Roberta and Wilda; and brother, Vince.

Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Elliott Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Elliott Mortuary.
