INMAN — Nearly 70 Disc Golfers crowded the Inman Disc Golf Course at Lambert Park this past weekend to participate in the 7th Annual Food Drive tournament in Inman.

"This was by far the largest group of participants this tournament has seen,” tournament organizer Bentley Richert said. “The purpose of the food drive tournament is to get some early season disc golf competition, to enjoy some time together, and to raise some money and non-perishable items for local food banks.”

Participants in this year’s Inman Food Drive tournament donated over $2,000 in cash and over 1,250 non-perishable items for a couple of area food banks.

In the Disc Golf competition, three competitors tied for the day’s best score. Colten Stucky from Buhler, Benjamin Weins from Inman, and Ahren Turner of McPherson each shot a 10 under par 44 for 18 holes.

Stucky won the tiebreakers to be declared tournament champion. Nate Weins from Hutch won the 2nd flight with a 52, and Josh Burdett from Hutchinson took 3rd flight honors with a 56. In the Women’s division, Chris Stewart was the Champion, and Drew Demeyer won the Junior division.

More Disc Golf Food Drive tournaments are scheduled in the area. The tournament in Hutchinson is set for January 16th, Newton has a tournament January 29, Marquette will host on February 5 and Pratt will be the site on February 27th.
