HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Hutchinson Monarchs are the 2020 Sunflower Collegiate League Champs by earning two wins on Friday night over the SCL Sunflower Seeds 4-0 and 8-2.

Friday nights first game was a continuation of a game that was part of a double header from Wednesday night that mother nature called to a halt. The game started in the 4th inning scoreless.  Hutchinson's Austin Callahan hit a "no doubter" home run that sealed the deal in game one.

In the second game of the night, the Monarchs had scored an unearned run in the third to lead 1-0 until Hutchinson scored 2 runs in the 6th, 2 in the 7th on Callahan's 2nd two run homer for the night.  Clayton Chadwick pushed his hitting percentage to .400 by going 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs.

Liam Eddy picked up the win in relief as the Monarchs platooned several pitchers over the course of 9 innings.

Hutchinson's 17-1 home record is the best since 2016.  This is the Monarchs first Sunflower Colligiate League Championship.

Hutchinson (28-6) now advances to the 86th Annual NBC World Series that starts on Monday at both Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson and Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.  The Monarchs first game in the 13 team, double elimination tourney is Tuesday night at 6pm.
