John Joseph Meuten, Jr., 82, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on January 5, 1940 in Waterbury, Connecticut to John Joseph, Sr. and Thelma Eileen (Waters) Meuten. John married Sue Elayne (Swonger) Meuten on October 11, 1974 in Hugoton. She survives.
John graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1958. He worked as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of Family Church, National Rifle Association and Kansas Sherriff Association. He enjoyed guns, fishing, boating, hunting, watching westerns, front porch sitting and being outside and spending time with his family. He always loved his coffee, donuts and Copenhagen.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Christine Eyestone of Wyoming, Matt (Ruth) Meuten of Ogdensburg, New York, Charles (Dawn) Meuten of Ogdensburg, New York, Steve (Tina) Meuten of Jacksonville, Florida, Rosa (Gary) Valentine of Warsaw, Missouri, Dustin Meuten of Wichita, Brandon (Angie) Meuten of Wichita and Chelsea (Kendall) Snyder of Wichita; brother, Donald (Virginia) Meuten of Cripple Creek, Virginia; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Mylock.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 3-5 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2022 at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt with Pastor Boone Baker presiding. Burial will follow at Ellenwood Cemetery, Sawyer.
